I currently mow about 5 acres with a bx2380. I want a backhoe and don’t like the 23s. Seems to small Have looked at both B2601 and lx2610. I currently mow with bx2380. I want Backhoe and loader with which one I buy besides a mmm. I read the lx mower doesn’t float just rolls on ground. Does the B float like the mmm on the bx?

If there are vids that answer this question, I cannot find them. would anyone have a link.

Neil Messick has videos on YouTube that explain the mowers for each model.

I have the LX2610 with the 60 inch deck and have no issues with the deck rolling on the ground. I was in the same spot as you, had a bx but want a back hoe. Ended up with a 2020 LX2610 HSDC

The LX is a ground engaging deck, the B is a floating/suspended deck. I personally believe that in a larger deck (72 inch on the LX) the ground engaging is better, because I think it is less likely to scalp. I'd make my decision based on the size/capability of the machine, not the method of the deck working.

I believe the LX backhoe is substantially better than the B. I think I recall it has a much greater range of swing side to side than the B, which makes it more useful for many tasks. There are a few threads on here about that. The LX can also run a 72 inch mower, if you're going bigger you may as well go properly bigger.

You could consider the 33hp as well in the LX, whereas the B only comes in 26hp. I believe the LX2620 has a much quieter transmission than the LX2610, and is worth considering for that reason.

My biggest worry about the LX is the weight. Does it cause any problems when you mow with it. I do want the 60 in deck

My biggest worry with the LX2610 is the weight. Do you have any problems messing yard up when mowing ? I would also want the 60 inch deck.

I wonder if the weight would cause any problems with the yard. I would be using 60 in deck.

The LX is not dramatically heavier, and it has larger tires. I suspect the ground pressure is similar.

If you are getting a 60 inch deck, then perhaps you don't need to go to the LX. But again, you seem to have uses for a backhoe, and I think the LX backhoe is substantially more capable.

Have you considered keeping the BX and doing something else for backhoe capability - perhaps a used mini-excavator?

Good day.

If worried about weight on the lawn then I’d think adding backhoe isnt going to help that.

That being said, my B with loaded tires, ballast box or chipper on the rear is not a problem on my lawn, but it’s what I would consider low maintenance 😉. I have no problem driving my truck or the other tractor on it. (If ground is wet and soft a BX would leave marks). Point being is a loaded down B is fine which I believe to similar to LX. (its not a golf course for me though…when I shoot a gopher (let’s be clear I mean ground hog…I am assuming you are old enough to have watched caddyshack)in the front yard I do not replace the divot 😉)

If on the fence about size I’d rent a couple with BH in the sizes considering (or ask for a demo at dealer and try) before buying a BH that doesn’t do what you want. That’s a healthy chunk to spend if not meet your expectation. Good luck.
