I'm replacing the right rear axle seal on my B26 and after removing the axle housing, I found that the retainer clip was missing. How would the shaft stay in place? Very strange ... has any here ever changed a rear seal on a B26?

Hey I've been asking in several threads here for anyone that has attempted to do the rear axle seal on a B26. If you are that far along, can you give any advice as to how the actual dismantling of the subframe etc went. That seems to be the hardest part of it and I always hoped someone else would be able to give a little more insight into how difficult that process was. Any chance you have picture of that process? Thanks alot .

The job is not easy. Things to note - Jack supports and tie downs are very important (see pics), hydraulic oil tank should be drained and removed before working on sub frame. One bolt from the tank also holds the axle case. There is also a bolt from the front bucket hydraulic control valve. This has to be rotated forward but not removed. I did not remove the sub frame entirely, just removed bolts at back, in front (leave one on each side in - see pic), and bolts attaching the front of the ROP support (see pics). After that rotated it down at rear end down with floor jack (see pics). It is a lot of work for one seal replacement. The rear axle cover is not that heavy, just unbolt and hand carried to bench. When replacing rear axle be sure that locking dog clutch is aligned. Hope not leaving anything out, If you have any questions let me know.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write back and upload some pictures. Someday I'm going to get enough courage to undertake this and the pictures and advice help a lot.
