I am not sure if this is an Alternator issue or regulator issue. Does it even have an alternator or is it a Generator, it is so tiny I can't tell.

At idle my battery light glows, crank it up to 2500 and it goes out, or turn on the lights and it goes out, but lower throttle and it starts to glow again.

Since the 2410 is so simple since it has no computer, just straight up conventional wiring, this should be an easy fix, but I need to know what components it uses so I don't throw parts at it.

Does it have an alternator or a generator and if it uses an external regulator, where is it located? It's 22 years old now and this is the first issue besides a leaky seal since I got it.

It doesn't have either, it has a dynamo.
It's closer to a alternator with an external regulator but different.
Dynamos are fixed magnet with no brushes to wear so they rarely go out.
The regulator on the other had does go out.
Have a multi meter?
Set it to AC, disconnect the two wires at the dynamo, measure those two wires with it running.

if that tests good go to the regulator.

Related to the subject, but only if one is interested...

Here is an basic write up on the differences between, alternators, generators/dynamos and magnetos.

I think what Kubota calls a dynamo is actually a magneto by definition.

so ...
how old is the battery ?
is battery correct size for tractor ?
has the battery been tested ?
any loads(light, winch) on the battery ?
how long do you run at higher revs for ?
what condition is the 22 year old wiring?
has rect/reg been replaced ?
original fuse or replaced ?
what voltages on battery ? at rest, when charging ??

each part of the 'charging system' needs to be in tip/top shape.if ANY is less than 'great',battery may no get full recharge.

I finally got around to working on this. The Dynamo is 13.8 at idle but jumps up to 40's at full. The battery is charging at 12.79 volts at full throttle. The Dynamo seem a little weak, but still charging enough. I just realized I did not test the voltage with the lights on. The battery light goes off if I turned the lights on, and forgot that part.

The troubleshooting part of the manual was not helpful, for the regulator. More than likely it will need a new regulator though. I ran across a dozen regulators that all look the same though for Kubota, but don't really know what the differences are.
