I think I'm about to buy what the title says its should work good for what I need. Questions are how should I feel about the hours? Seller says it was owned by the post office. It has turf tires would like some more aggressive, would that require wheels also?

What should I look for listen for when looking at it?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

That is a fair amount of hours but I bet a lot of it was driving around mowing. The loader shows a patch so it must have been worn too. Paint is good so I am guessing it lived inside its whole life.

Check all the fluids for contamination (water). Check the FEL cylinders for leaks. Look at the FEL control valves for leaks. Look under the machine for leaks or seeps. Check out the 3-pt for smooth operation. Look at the exhaust stack for excessive soot. See if they have any service history on the machine. The USPS may have had a service agreement with a local place and they may be able to advise you on what was done to the machine.

Turf tires aren't all that bad. They sure are cheaper to replace than ag tires. I am not sure about the rim swap if you swap to ag tires. You may not have to.

If all else looks good, that is a heck of a machine for under $7k. I bet a nice day of detailing would make it look a lot better!

Let us know what you decide.

Well I was able to track down the guy at the post office that ran and serviced it, he said it has an oil leak that developed when he torqued it last winter and leaks about a quart of oil every 4 hours while mowing. Said it's from underneath by the hydrostat and the local Kubota place said it would be a $900-$1500 repair. Other thank that says it pretty good, replaced the gas tank about 6 years ago.

So I'm not really sure anymore.

the price is pretty good, plus good accessories like FEL and MMM.

If you have a leak in your hydro pump, that's not cool...but MANY machines drip from the metal suction line because people forget to put the 0 rings back in..or don't torque correctly. Same with the suction rubber line where it clamps....you could be looking at a $5 repair....don't get scared yet.

the "dealer" guy who sales tractors and implements and does some repair, says they found a fuel leak and a oil leak.

I believe he said the oil leak was at a oil pressure value that was by the dash and would run down and back to the hydrostat. They've got it all apart and said it would take 2 day - a week to get parts in to fix and get back together.

I believe they are pretty trustworthy and plan to proceed with the purchase once I talk to them more and have a friend go by that really knows tractors.

I have a slightly newer, but less fancy 3pt hitch. 269 hrs, 10,500. FEL, MMM and turfs.

Ive been sourcing AG tires for grins. Found a complete set of rears for $650. Still trying to locate fronts. You have to switch out wheels as well, AG tires are different diameter than Turfs. the rolling circumference has to match or 4x4 drive-train damage will occur.

Well I bought it!!!

I've had it a day and really like it!

I'll start by changing all the fluids and filters. Everything looks pretty good.

One thing is the Hydrostat petal sticks a little, I'll examine it to see why.
