Hi all. Stumbled onto this site looking for answers to an issue that cropped up with my brand new B2320. I got it with the back hoe and front loader to move some dirt and clear an open ditch on my "new to me" 5 acre property. Later, I'll be clearing an area to put in a pole barn, and do some dirt moving. With the 5 years 0% financing, it was a perfect time to buy.

I just got it delivered Thursday. First order of business was to move some trees that were planted too close to the house. They were small enough to scoop out with the back hoe, and attempt to transplant them on the edge of the property. That went pretty well, and I decided to take it into the wooded area to start doing some work on that open ditch.

However, after getting some of the compost like debris out of the open ditch, It was time to head up to the house for dinner. However, the tractor WOULDN'T MOVE. It was in low gear, the outriggers were up, the back hoe was in the "praying mantis" position, and the bucket was off the ground. The throttle was about 1/2 and I put a foot on the forward pedal, and all I got was an AWFUL sound coming from under the seat. The wheels didn't spin in the sandy soil or anything. Just an awful noise.

The grade was barely 5% but I couldn't get the tractor to go at all. I managed to work it out of the woods onto the blacktop using the outriggers and backhoe. (Luckily, I wasn't deep in the woods at the time.) When I finally got it onto the flat pavement, it did limp up to the house. However even in LOW gear, it would not make it up the modest grade on the paved driveway!

The dealer is closed for the weekend. I left a message for them and expect to talk to them on Monday.

Is there anything I can check in the meantime?

Thanks in advance.

Stupid to ask this probably, but do you have the parking brake set?

Fluids were fine. Checked before running and after.

Parking brake not set. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Talked to the Mechanic today. Held the phone up to the tractor while trying to drive it up the driveway. His reply, "That's not right." I'll let you know what they find out when they have it figured out. Thanks all.

The mechanic picked it up today. He tested it for 5 minutes, then declared, "I've never seen this happen before." He believes this to be a transmission problem. He assured me that this is a fluke thing. But 5 hours on this machine and it couldn't even pull itself on the trailer! It doesn't inspire confidence.

Even a Rolls Royce can have a bad part here and there. Lets see what the dealer has to say about it and why they do to correct the problem.

I hear you Eric. My father in law has many hours on his Kubota, as do his neighbors and friends. I'm confident this will shake out eventually. It's just a frustrating beginning.

I'm sure it will work out in the end.

Well I'd like to say thank you for your patients. A few people have come on here and bitched whinned and moaned their brand spanking new Kubota does this or didnt do that and then trade it off for some other brand without giving the tractor the benefit of doubt and get things fixed. Brand new equipment and brand new cars can all have problems.

I don't see any point in crying about it. I did come to the community here to see if there was something I was overlooking. Since that doesn't seem to be the issue, I'm just glad it decided to rear it's ugly head while the warranty was still in full effect. I'm sure it's a manufacturing oversight of some kind. As soon as the mechanic get's back to me with the diagnosis, I'll be sure to share with the community.

I only had it for a couple days, but the garage seems empty without it!! It'll be back soon enough.

Until then, there's plenty on my "Honey Do" list to keep me occupied.

Update:

I just got off the phone with the mechanic. It's definately the HST. He tested the pressure at the various ports and it was way off.

They are going to replace the transmission.

Update:

Got it back today. The mechanic said the regional service rep came in and they took apart the HST. Nothing they could see that may be causing the issue. The *Think* it may be a casting issue.

They put a new HST in the tractor and I went ahead and worked with it a little bit today. The drive is MUCH better. It'll spin the wheels in the loose dirt and sand, as I would expect!

Back in business!!

I'd have to agree with that mechanic, we sell a fair amount of that series tractor and have had zero HST problems. Glad to see it was taken care of.

Thank you sir. That is reassuring. The tractor runs GREAT. Only put a couple hours on it since it came back, but no complaints!!
