Fan is flopping around on the water pump , I assume it’s bad🙂 I’m guessing the radiator will have to be removed to to get to the old water pump? I’m getting to old for this😁 any suggestions will be much appreciated…thanks!

Get a WSM for your model tractor, replace necessary parts before further damage occurs.

Find a mechanically inclined neighbor kid and supervise the repair. The second suggestion is to have an auto shop fix it, they should be able to handle the repair. The last choice is to take it to the Kubota dealer.

As troublesome as it may be in your mind…. replacing a water pump is pretty simple…..just make a jug of iced tea and get your wrenches out. Genuine parts are always best. Replace all the hoses and belts instead of re-using the old ones. Permatex #2 on the gaskets.

Thanks, the hard part is getting to the pump. I’m going to remove the loader to mac things more accessible and that’s a pain , at least for me. The radiator also looks like it needs to be removed. The price of an oem pump is$240😡. After market are as low as $36. Aftermarket pumps very in price and I wonder if the Quality does as well or are they all from the same Chinese manufacture?

I feel your pain on the parts price. Just this last few days I had my 1987 John Deere-powered compactor-roller overheat due to a failed water pump. (Impeller loose on the shaft…failed to pump water.) I had to disassemble the entire left side of that 14K lb beast then remove hyd cooler, radiator, heavy steel fan shroud and support structure to get to the pump. Finding the hoses that connect the pump to the engine oil-cooler was another treasure-hunt. (Two of them were 4”-short 45-degree-bend hoses that transition from 1/2” I.D. to 3/4” I.D.)
Finding that pump proved to be a nightmare because it goes on an engine mgr’d by JD…but provided to the equipt-mfr’r for assembly into a unique piece of equipt…. there being no “standard” parts list or reference. (I ended up finding one thru a heavy equipt source.) But the price of that water pump ranged from ”Y” (chineese Yuan = $89) to $950! 😱
I ended up with a pump sourced from a JD supplier for $250 for the Genuine JD pump, and another $170 in gaskets, hoses, shipping, etc.
Things are no longer like they were when you could replace a cast iron pump in a ‘62 Ford Fairlane for $19.
