Fan is flopping around on the water pump , I assume it’s bad I’m guessing the radiator will have to be removed to to get to the old water pump? I’m getting to old for this any suggestions will be much appreciated…thanks!
Thanks, the hard part is getting to the pump. I’m going to remove the loader to mac things more accessible and that’s a pain , at least for me. The radiator also looks like it needs to be removed. The price of an oem pump is$240. After market are as low as $36. Aftermarket pumps very in price and I wonder if the Quality does as well or are they all from the same Chinese manufacture? As troublesome as it may be in your mind…. replacing a water pump is pretty simple…..just make a jug of iced tea and get your wrenches out. Genuine parts are always best. Replace all the hoses and belts instead of re-using the old ones. Permatex #2 on the gaskets.
I feel your pain on the parts price. Just this last few days I had my 1987 John Deere-powered compactor-roller overheat due to a failed water pump. (Impeller loose on the shaft…failed to pump water.) I had to disassemble the entire left side of that 14K lb beast then remove hyd cooler, radiator, heavy steel fan shroud and support structure to get to the pump. Finding the hoses that connect the pump to the engine oil-cooler was another treasure-hunt. (Two of them were 4”-short 45-degree-bend hoses that transition from 1/2” I.D. to 3/4” I.D.)Thanks, the hard part is getting to the pump.
