Im sure a guru will check in here, now in my experience with pumps and motors (somewhat limited) i will mention i have overhauled automotive steering boxes.
Seeping, pouring indicates a bad seal.most auto boxes use two or more seals above the bearing. One for dirt and one for keeping oil in. Snap rings and something like a packing nut to set preload.
One important thing is keepin it clean.
Consulting a manual will be beneficial in this case.

I fixed the weeping seal on my B9200 with a 2150 steering box on it and it has held pretty well so far. Remove the steering wheel, remove the upper tube, replace seal, reassemble. Should be a pretty quick project, just removing the dashboard took me longer than the repair itself.

Bulldog, it went just as you said, with one major exception. When I took the top casting off and looked at the shaft where the seal rides, it was rough. It looks like water had gotten down into the steering column and rusted the seals seating surface. That is why it was leaking so much. I will probably take the shaft out tomorrow, get it turned down and cement or silver solder a bushing where the seal rides, then turn it all down to the correct diameter. A new shaft is $560!

They work pretty good. I've found that giving the surface where the sleeve is gonna sit a skim coat of jb weld then immediately install the sleeve. Helps lock in the sleeve, and bonds it too the shaft

I have used them with good success.
Clean shaft,no rust or paint. If the supplied installer isnt deep enough, then a tube of the right size will work in its place.
As far as using a two part epoxy, silicone sealant also works.

Piece of pvc pipe works pretty good for installing them if the included installer is to short. Make sure and let silicone or epoxy set up before installing the seal.

Thanks for the advice. I will probably use JB weld. I definitely don't want it to weep under the sleeve and it will help with any the rust pits.

I got the Speedi-Sleeve made by SKF for a 20 mm shaft, 99078. It worked well. The sleeve was slightly larger that the inside diameter of the needle bearing, so I put the top casting with the needle bearing on first, used RTV on the surface to be sleeved and put the sleeve, seal and snap ring on last. After I got it back together, but without the steering wheel in place, I fired it up and had no leakage. It is what I call an "elegant fix" for a bad situation! Now on to the cracked front split rims.
