Greetings,
First post and I'm struggling.
Cutting near top of bank and B2100 HST pedal got stuck in foreward position. Moving foreward would have led to roll over. Put in clutch and tried to push heel down to get in reverse. No go. Turned off key and used beloved B8200 to pull 2100 to safety. Found that no longer stuck in foreward and heel toe action was normalized but could not shift to neutral and therefore could not start. Any ideas?
Dealer is $125 one-way tow away and would like to fix it in the field.

Sounds like a stick or some other foreign object caught in the linkage.

Thanks Kubotasam. I like it: rationale, simple, and very possible... but not correct. Have looked at linkage and nothing there that didn't start out at the factory. Is there a device attached to the pedal assembly or the linkage that tells the ignition that I'm not good to go and is blocking the signal to the starter??

Yes there is a safety switch on many of these hst's. Look around under the pedal, besides the black plastic cylindrical structure, there are some wires on mine. Maybe one of those has gotten damaged/ or come loose.

Also I have heard folks say that when the switch gets out of adjustment you can test it or get it to start by turning key to start position and then rock the hst pedal gently. More important is to figure out why it hung up in the first place! Not a good thing!

My guess:
Mowing you hit a stick that shoved the pedal in forward, you clutched stopped, stick still in place, you pulled the tractor out with old trusty B8200, stick came out, but either when stick went in or out it either damaged wiring or the switch inspect completely! ;)

Thank you for your thoughts.
Mystery solved. Manually eased shift linkage past a tight spot and it fell into neutral. Made sure PTO lever for mower was fully disengaged and she started right up. Turning off at the key in an emergency made me overlook the position of the PTO lever when I tried to restart. That's normally not part of my start up routine because I don't leave the PTO on when I'm shutting down.
I won't make that mistake again... I'll make a different one.
