hi all!

I inherited a b20 tractor and had it shipped out to the mtns in Colorado. I’m having some issues with it since I got it.

after the tractor has warmed up for more then 30 seconds the bucket either lifts very slowly and jerky or won’t lift at all. It has now power steering and the hydrostatic doesn’t feel quite right (my first tractor so I could be wrong on that). It doesn’t seam to go into gear easy or drive smoothly.

I checked the hydraulic fluid it looked clean and full. After doing some research and reading I found the front hydraulic pump in front and it is leaking and also I think making a bad noise. Attached are some videos of the tractor running.

do I need a new pump? Anyplace to find a used one or get a deal on one?

Do you know anything about the tractor's history?

Service, what kind of fluid in it, how many hours, etc?

"Clean and full" may not cut it.

I know NOTHING about B20's, other than they're a stout small commercial TLB.

The pump sounds wonky, that can mean it's bad, or simply starved for fluid and cavitating. My ear isn't good enough to tell in your video.

I would:

#1 - - get an Operating Manual (Ops), and Workshop Manual (WSM) for the tractor.
#2 - - do a full service of the hydraulic systems, with proper fluids, filters, and any screens that may be in the tractor.
#3 - - Check all lines for leaks and cracks. Sometimes the low pressure lines can have cracks that introduce air, and create cavitation problems.
#4 -- try it again.

If you replace a pump today, but your system has issues, you might fry that pump too.

A B20 is a great machine, and worth putting the effort in to make it right!

Start with the simple stuff.......

Good luck - best wishes!

Just curious what you found to be the problem I’m dealing with the same issue on my B20
