Hi everyone!

I have recently had issues with the little 3 cylinder diesel I have in my B1750 - it won't start. It will turn over and smoke does come out of the stack. When I turn the key I am only getting the oil pressure and glow plug lights coming on, the charging light does not (it used to though.......)I have also noticed that I am not hearing the fuel solenoid clicking in and out. I checked continuity all the way from the solenoid back to the 15 amp fuses and beyond - all good.

I had recently changed the fuel filter and before that everything was running fine. After changing the filter I bled both at the injection pump and at each injector. I have fuel flow. My issue seems to be the solenoid. I had a spare timer relay (new) and replaced it but that did not solve the problem. Battery voltage is good. Any input would be much appreciated. If anyone needs more info or images I will happily provide.

Thanks. Mark

Your tractor has a passive solenoid setup, It times and engages for 5 seconds when the key is shut off.
The fuel stop solenoid will have nothing to do with not starting, unless for some odd reason it has malfunctioned and is stuck (non powered) in the engaged position.
You can verify this is not the case by checking that the solenoid and cam on the stop plate move, also make sure that the manual stop rod was not engaged (right lower dash).

If neither of these are the issue then you have either left the fuel shut off at the filter housing and are not getting fuel or you have not properly burped the air out of the system. ;)

Thanks for the reply. I had checked that the manual stop rod was not engaged and there is movement on the cam. I will take your advise and re-bleed the system.

Again, thank you for the prompt reply.

Verify that the engine stop knob is fully seated in the run position.
