I have found a B1700 at a small dealer in another city. They took it in on trade this past fall. Apparently, they sent it out with a customer for a "test". The customer called them to come pick it up. He said it was smoking heavily. The dealership ruled out antifreeze in the engine and figures it needs a ring job. I went to look at it after the weather warmed up, and witnessed the following. It was very very hard to start. The dealer cranked the engine for a long time. There was lots of heavy black smoke spewing out of the exhaust as it tried to fire. When it finally caught, it blew out a good cloud of black smoke, then ran fine. I never once noticed blue smoke, that I would associate with burning oil, and the oil level was good. Someone I talked with thought it could be a timing issue. Any ideas out there? There are 1100 hrs on the unit.
