My glow plug indicator in the dash is only visable at night.
During the day if used I cannot see.
Do I need a new indicator?
If so is the B7001 a match?

Get an LED (12v) from radio shack and wire it into the glow plugs. Just hook the positive lead of the led to one of the glow plugs and the other led wire to ground. The light comes with it's own houseing, I think a 1/4 hole drilled into the dash ,( I put mine right next to the old indicator), when you hit the glow plug switch, bright light. You can get red or green.

The indicator on my M4500 is the same way, normal old age stuff. I think it is mostly a build-up of dust/grime burnt on to it that causes it to be that way. Keep meaning to try and gently clean the filament somehow but have never gotten to it.

This is sound advice as long as you do not make the mistake of removing the origional Kubota glow plug indicator. If the origional is bypassed you will get to much voltage to the glow plugs and you will burn them out. The OEM indicator is a resistor to drop the 12 volts from the battery down to the operating voltage of the glow plugs.

When I bought my first B7100 nearly two years ago it didn't have a glow-plug indicator but kept on using it by giving it heat for as long as I deemed necessary.
When I finally looked to see what the problem was I could see the coil was burned out and the two wires were on one terminal to give power to the plugs when the switch was in heat position and I have still not bought a new indicator.

I may be missing the point here but does the led intensity alter with how hot the glow-plugs are like the original coil indicator. If it does ,great i'll fit one but if not then I can't see me going to the trouble of wiring and drilling for a light just to tells me the ignition switch in the heat position.

The LED indicator will not change intensity. It will just glow when you apply power to it. As far as having the original coil resistor type bypassed It is my understanding that 12 volts from the battery can cause the glow plugs to overheat and burn out. However I guess you say yours has been that way for 2 + years now so maybe I am wrong.

Yep. Kubotasam is onto something. The glow plug indicator is more than a 'handy' light or cigarette lighter!

It's a resistor coil designed by NGK to deliver the correct current to the glow plugs. Depending on your model of Kubota tractor, the resistance coil in the glow plug indicator will vary and replacing it with the correct part is essential in aiding cold weather starting and glow plug longevity.

Here's a link to NGK's site explaining how to correctly test the glow plugs in your Kubota.

What are you trying to do, your post is all over the place!
Are you trying to replace the glow plug indicator that is NOT a cigarette lighter?
