When I meet my wife she had never had a dog of her own.
So I got her her own puppy, a toy miniature poodle, she named him Remy.
I told her that they were tough, smart, faithful, and lived a long time.
Here's Remy at 1&1/2 years old.
IMG_1382.JPG

One of his claims to fame was that he hung out with wolves.
This was his best wolfgirl Vixen.
He was raised by wolves so naturally he learned to howl like them, it was adorable!

Vixen and Remy.jpg

He also was the best temperament tester ever, he and Vixen saved a ton of wolves, wolfdogs and dogs over the years.
He always had fun antics, he always made us smile, and he had an incredible amount of love.
The last few years old age got the best of him, he lost his hearing, he lost his sight, he lost his teeth, and his mind every now and then.
We still loved him in spite of it all!

At 17&1/2 years old he finally gave up the fight.
Tonight he fell asleep on the couch with mom and never woke up.
It was good that it was a peaceful passing with no pain and no struggle, I wanted that for him and for my wife, they both deserved it!

RIP Remy

Aww damn brother, so so sorry for your loss.

I know that feeling all to well. You just basically described what happened to our cocker spaniel several years ago. He was the wife's pup. Had him 18 years, same problems towards the end.... Had to mush his food up and everything, even had to diaper the ole feller the last 6 months or so.

Again, so sorry!

P.S. Vixen looks absolutely gorgeous!

A good day for a tubby!
LOL, does Geddy enjoy bath time?

Both of ours do not.

Zoey (the shepherd) got too deep into the dishwasher the other day and I had to wash her head off.

The look she gives right after her momma yells for her to get out of the kitchen, silly pup LOL!

Geddy tolerates it better than some of our other dogs.

He's 90+ pounds, so it's good he's okay.

We had a 150-pound monster that hated a tubby. Damned -near dislocated my shoulder 30 years ago......

Took Cody for his first real swim today after fixing my moms walkway. This is the same location as some of my last pictures with my buddy Dakota. :(

Cody was a bit nervous at first, then all was good.

My dog has been scratching everywhere he can reach. He even lays on his back and goes back and forth, I'm sure to relieve the itch. Took him to the vet a couple of weeks ago and she suggested Apoquel tablets. They seem to relieve the itching, and the redness on his belly is better, but he sure seems lethargic.

He been with us about a year, but the shelter suggest he was 2+ years old when we got him. On 10/11/22 He was diagnosed with FAD (flea allergy dermatitis and treated. He has had no problem with fleas since he has been with us.

I would like to find a substitute for the Apoguel, or better yet find what he's allergic to. What do you guys use for similar problems?

Don't use any harsh shampoo on him, and make sure to rinse him well. I like an oatmeal based shampoo for skin problems. Also check your food for chicken. It seems like we are seeing a lot of dogs with chicken allergies. There are some very good foods that you can get that don't have any chicken in them, such as Grandma Mae, Fromm, Stella & Chewy, and Zignature. I would stay away from some of the products that are sold by the big box store chains, because they are designed for the mass market with less quality ingredients meant for greater profits for both the manufacturer and seller. The brands that I have recommended are sold by the Independent pet product retailers.

There are also grain free foods you can try. Fromms food has some non-chicken and grain free types. You might try to get off the grain and chicken then if that helps you can either go to chicken grain free or grain based non-chicken to see what happens to try to narrow down what it is allergic to.

If you are in the first days of Apoquel the dosage is higher than normal. You may talk to your vet about cutting it down sooner and see if the lethargy wanes.

We used Benadryl for our dog to help with allergies but it takes quite a bit of it and doesn’t last 24 hours. It may have the side effect of hyper or lethargy depending on the dog (if my memory is good).

Your vet may be able to test for allergies? And I think that a single flea bite can set off an allergic reaction in some cases.

We have been spending a lot of time at the farm preparing it for our move. Max has started getting use to it and claiming it as his own.

In addition, he got the first new piece of furniture in the farm house. He needed a chair for nap time and to let him see out the window down the driveway.
