I recently acquired a auger gearbox and bit and am planning to fabricate a 3 point positioning boom for it, this is going to be used behind my b7100.

Can anyone provide approximate dimensions of a working 3 point auger setup? I have some heavy 2-7/8" drill pipe so i'm think of a long "J" bar atop a "U" pivot that attaches to the lifting forks, this seems to be how most off the shelf setups look. Again, approximate dimensions of the J and U would be greatly appreciated.

In Addition, if anyone has suggestions of what might work better i'm all ears.

I've got a Ford 905. In fact, that's my rebuild of the gear box near the top of the results. But more than a little large for the little B7100, it's a bit large on my B2150.

Just trying to get a good starting point for the dimensions of the boom. I'm sure I can mock something up but starting with a known working configuration would be preferred. I'm leaning towards the design of a leinbach auger boom.

I would recommend you mock it up, out of wood, before welding a stitch. Most Universal fit models have a sliding collar, on the central tube, to make it adjustable, to any tractor on the market. Maybe even better, to take pictures and measurements, at a friendly dealer. Also, 3 point hitch boom poles are pretty cheap, why not just buy one, and adapt it to your use? :D:D
