Attaching a Pole Pruner to my BX2350 tractor

Hi there, I have a BX2350 tractor that has no FEL or other hydraulic implements other than the standard hydraulic rear three point linkage at the rear. It does have the four color coded connectors on the right side for use with an FEL, if I had one.

What I want to do is to connect my Greenlee Hydraulic Pole Pruner to the tractor but am unsure of how to go about that or what controls or valves etc I might need.

What I do know is that the Pole Pruner unit has a max pressure of 2000 psi and has a flow rate of 4-6gpm.
The hydraulic specs are listed as:
Flow Range: 4 to 6 gpm (15 to 23 lpm)
Operating Pressure: 1,000 to 2,000 psi (69 to 140 bar)
Pressure Port: 9/16 - 18 SAE O-ring
Return Port: 3/4 - 16 SAE O-ring

What I want to know is how to go about taking hydraulic pressure from one of the two hydraulic circuits that would normally be connected to the FEL. Can I just connect the two hoses from the Pruner to two of the connectors on the side of the tractor or is it more complex than that. I suspect that it is.

So if you have controls on the tractor to activate the hydraulic circuits are you going to tape the trigger on the saw so it's in effect not there?

How about just taking your tractor to where you want to trim and hand trim? By the time you mount the saw with out a loader to raise in up, you won't have much reach.

The problem I see is the 2 lengths of hydraulic hose from the tractor to saw. Going to be heavy and awkward to move around. Plumbing isn't a huge deal and a bungee to keep 'forever curl', not a big deal.

If you hadn't already bought the saw, I'd suggest a ' 10" electric pole saw'. I use mine with a 50' extension cord,plugged into a small generator. As long as you plan ahead , you don't trip over the bright yellow power cord.

It isn't a saw, its a heavy duty lopper/pruner and I do not believe you can get an equivalent in electric. I agree about the weight of the hoses though. More thinking required.

I've seen where a lesser pressure rated hose is used. Has less steel braiding and more flexible and less weight. Check the rating on your pump and get a hose that handles that.

Frankly - just sitting in my car next to at while I took the picture was scary...... Its brand spanking new - guess Gilbert got a nice contract with the overhead lines people.

Had a quiklook and found a few electric pruners, though real pricey to get 2" cut. 1000s of them for roses and twigs of course....
An option would be one of those small 6-8" battery powered 'pole saws'. Less than $100, just have to mod the trigger. My concern about the hydraulic one is tripping on the hoses, weight of dragging them, just seems 'awkward' to me.

For half the price, you can get a gas or electric pole saw that is more capable. Anything less than 5 inches, I use my STHIL HT131 pole saw. I don't see a point of the tool you found...it will make you really immobile too.

Pole saw valving has to be compatible with the tractors open center hydraulic system.
