N.Y,
Today I got done mowing on my Z726. Turned it off to blow it off then tried starting it. Just click click click and found the battery had died. Found a blown fuse and it's a strange looking fuse rated at 30 amps.

Looked it up at Messicks and it's a $14.00 fuse so my dealer would probably be $20. Wondering if this can be interchanged with something from the automotive world that would be lower cost until I find the problem incase it blows again. Seems to be about the same as something called a jcase fuse that I found on Amazon. About 10 hours ago my voltage regulator was replaced under recall and this seems to be in that circuit but it's hard to tell the way Kubota wraps all the wiring together and just leaves everything hanging. Wondering if anyone has tried a non Kubota fuse?

Thanks. Just measured and close. The Kubota fuse is about 16mm tall and that looks like 16mm to the bottom of the lip. I guess I will order a cheap set from Amazon to try. Really wonder why they use these fancy fuses Just hanging off the wire harness when atc fuse holders come with sealed lids that keep moisture out. Never saw a fuse like this before.

Cars have been using those fuses for many years now. When I go to the pick a part yard I usually fill my pockets with fuses and relays. I show them to the cashier when I leave, and they charge me a dollar or two. Even with my selection I occasionally don't have the one that I need.

Search for '30 Amp Low Profile JCASE'. You'll find many local and online shops that you can buy from.

They are not standard fuses, they are Slow-Blow fuses. They have been used on automotive, ag, construction, and even lawnmowers for over 30 years.

Guess I just crawled out from under a rock. Never encountered one before. I am only up to the mini ATC fuses 😬. Never seen or replaced one of these before. Thanks everyone I ordered a cheap assortment from Amazon to help find the issue and 1 good Bussman one for $3 bucks once it's solved. I learn something new everyday on OTT.

I would be very careful using cheap Chinese fuses because you have no idea if the amperage rating is actually true. I remember a bunch of years ago when car dealerships wanted to save money on the purchase of fuses so they bought cheap Chinese fuses. Only when the cars caught fire as a result was the problem with the fuses discovered. GM sent out a technical service bulletin warning the dealerships to only buy fuses through reputable sources and brands i.e. GM parts.

I bought 5 Chinesium ones to try and isolate the problem and 1 good one for after it's fixed. Harbor Freight had a big recall of their fuse kits because of the problem you mention.
I'm really surprised Kubota used unsealed fuses in an area. That can get wet with these machines sitting out on lots and then open landscape trailers after bought.

Be real careful buying a Dodge pickup then !!! Older ones, the under the hood fuse panel is cheap plastic, stamped tin and under /near the battery...KNOWN issues like, gee, battery acid getting into the fuse panel and rotting out the 'wires'. BTW, the 'panel falls apart making repairs easy though......

Nobody builds their products to last...no money in that.
