Are pallet forks for a BX2680 even worth it?

I have pallet forks for my BX1850, not for doing what a forklift can do, but for moving my mower deck, blower attachment , & a million other things around. Even picking up large piles of brush, I think they are a huge help.

Way easier than by hand...or even to try to drag it around w/o damage !

I have used my forks with a spade to dig a shallow ditch for a French drain. Also, to reinstall the ramp for my shed 5 feet by 8 wide made out of 2X6's when I had to repair shed floor. It was a lot easier than than the removal by hand between a friend and I and we could barely lift the ramp.

One caution about pallet forks on a typical FEL -- they go up and down in an arc, not vertically like a true forklift. On a machine with a self-levelling bucket capability, that is not so much of an issue, but for the rest of us, a delicate touch is required to keep the load somewhat level and under control. Raising the load requires gently tipping it forward without dumping it and lowering requires tipping it back gently while going down.

I find reducing the engine rpm to near idle helps a lot, and I am more ensured of controlled movements if I make one at a time rather than try to do two functions at once, since one of the motions is always gravity-assisted while the other is defying gravity. IE: when lowering, gravity is acting on the arms while I am fighting gravity with the curl and when raising, the arms are fighting gravity while gravity is helping pull the forks down. The heavier the load, the greater the effect.

You definitely don't want to move the stick far enough to hit regen or float! Makes me wonder how controllable it could be to lower a load were the boom spool control valve order is up-neutral-float-down instead of up-neutral-down-float.

what Torch says....
yup, great 'fun' when trading seats between BX23s and the A-C forklift.....
one day, hopefully soon, 'memory muscle' will kick in....

I got the clamp-on type forks
for my older BX2360. Buckets are pin on, so not SSQA.

I would never recommend clamp on for an SSQA FEL, but even the clamp on are handy for brush and the occasional pallet for me.

Forks are a nice implement, even for a BX.

Just ordered clamp on from Vevor. Under $200 bucks with free shipping and should do what I need, primarily brush and limbs. Ordered from Vevor before and have been surprisingly happy for the price. Can’t see paying for the quick attach for my current needs.
