I’m in the market for a 14’ / 14k dump trailer for my hobby farm. Kaufman by far has the lowest prices but I don’t know how much of that is the factory direct factor vs the build quality factor.

anyone here own a Kaufman dump trailer that can give me some insight into their durability?

thx

I owned a 16', and I am on my second Kaufman gooseneck trailer. They are a good value. I've had no issue with any of the 3. We used the dump trailer to move horse manure, and sold it because my dad prefers a dump truck (shorter for maneuvering). I sold the first gooseneck when we bought a backhoe; it was rated at 14,000, so I bought the same trailer but rated at 24,000 lbs (taller main rails, duals vs singles). No question, I would buy more Kaufman equipment, if needed. I live about 2 1/2 hours from the NC facility, so driving there was an easy decision. They are very professional, and personable.

The only thing I see with Kaufman's is the paint seems to fall off them, I have a 15 old Sure-trac 10K 18ft Utility and the pain still looks good for it's age.
I'm looking at adding a Sure-trac dump 14K 12fft later this year or if the Snow every melts up here . LOL

Several folks I know have or had Kaufman trailers and they all had the same problem the finish didn't hold up and fell off. One had a dump trailer and it was just too light weight built for what he does which is flat concrete work. He sold it. Another friend still has his dump trailer and other than repainting it the trailer has stood up to his use which is mostly hauling firewood and gravel. Several have Kaufman flat beds and they have stood up pretty well other than the finish.

I have a couple of PJ dump trailers including a 16ft tandem axle and a 10ft single axle. I've pulled both behind both tractors and I'm not a fan if pulling off the drawbar which is the best way. These trailers have short A-frame type tongues which limit turning radius due to the lower links contacting the tongue when turning. It's really annoying to be honest. I have a CargoPro aluminum trailer with a long box tube for the tongue and it's much better behind the tractors.

If this is a dedicated farm trailer you could look at Berkelman's Welding and their trailers which are designed to be pulled behind a tractor.

They must not sell them out here, I looked at all that were available locally- LoadTrail, IronBull, PJ, PlayCraft, CarryOn, TexasPride, BigTex, etc..
It looks good, the only thing I saw was the frame rails are bigger on my LoadTrail, but it is also a little less expensive than mine. Mine also has a .100 thk deck, could not find any info on the Kaufman deck.
Don't know about your planned uses, but I :love:love:love: my threeway tailgate.

Kauffman offers two different bed thicknesses. I haven't had any paint fall off of my trailers. It chips, which any paint will do, but nothing is peeling or falling off.
