Crime is everywhere. You can't get away from it. You just have to be prepared. We live N.W. Of Houston. My wife and I stopped watching the local news. Always 2-3 murders, 1/2 doz. robberies(armed) every day. If we want to know what the weather is going to be,we look it up on the web page. We are not ignoring what is going on, but have stopped supporting the negativity. TV stations live for sensationalism. There are a lot of people that believe everything on TV is true. Sorry, I'll get of my soap-box.
