I have bx2660 with fel and 5' finish mower. Getting old and have a terrible back so thinking of trading up to b2601 with fel and 60" mmm for a smoother ride, will I achieve that goal with the trade?

You might look at the B2650 also. It has a suspension seat that might be more comfortable. It also has a longer wheelbase which will help with the ride.
Thanks for the replies, my dealer has a gravel lot to test drive I guess I'll give that a try. Hoping someone who has made the switch could tell the difference
Different comparison, but I think a relevant experience- I went from a B7100 to a John Deere 790. I don't think that there is an appreciable difference in how they ride. What BAP said may be more important- the quality and type of seat.

I sat on a B2601 yesterday, very nice seat. However, it does have a bit of a curve to it. I think the term "Lumbar" is what Im looking for... I dont always appreciate Lumbar. I have 2 crushed discs S1,L5 region, sometimes "Lumbar" makes it worse.
I would sit on one, drive around and hit every pot hole and rut in the lot, and stay in that seat for 20 minutes at least to see how your back reacts.

I went from a B2400 that I put a TSC suspension seat on, to a B2650 last fall....it did make a difference for me and I'm 6'3 260#. The only thing I really dislike is how much "slop" the factory suspension seat has from side to side...it really rocks around, whereas my TSC suspension seat always felt nice and solid.
Steve, I'm down in the Ozarks so I am knowledgeable about bumpy rides. I had used a Cub Cadet mower for years until it became too much on my back. Last year I bought a B2320 with a FEL, box blade and a PTO 60" mower.
The larger tires (turf, of course) allows me to mow faster and shave about 1/3 of my mowing time. I do have a lot of trimming to do however but that doesn't take much longer than it used to. The B series has helped my back and the other tools are a Godsend for my yard. I did look at the BX as well but the smaller tires weren't much larger than the Cub lawn tractor I was using. My logic, as yours told me the bigger tires and wheels will give a smoother ride and it did. I wanted the rear mower instead of the MMM because I have wooded and rough areas the tractor needs to go through and the MMM would be in the way...in my mind. And it is easier to sharpen the blades and it comes off in about 3 minutes. Food for thought.

At 180# I'm ok, no bottoming other than on the deepest sharp dip, with preload at max. I guess it's a combination of the seat, longer wheelbase, wider track, and maybe tires, but the B2650 definitely rides smoother than my previous B7500. And way smoother than the wife's JD X310 lawn tractor.
