Anyone else here with sleep disorders? I have sleep apnea with no successful treatment method, seemingly also chronic fatigue because I'm always tired and I'm naturally a bit nocturnal. Literally always more awake at night nomatter how exhausting the day was I am always more energetic when I'm awake in the evening and night.

I'm just curious though if anyone else has stuff like this and if so how do they deal with it?

I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP. Since I got my machine, I sleep great.

Prior to that, anytime I would sit still, I would go sleep. I would work 48 hour shifts and fall a sleep putting on my shoes. I had to be doing something active to stay awake. I couldn't just watch a movie, I would be a sleep.

That's bad, I just can't figure out how people tolerate the cpap.....

Since marijuana was legalized up here, I found some CBD pills that are great for minor pain (no weird high or things like that) and then Another one that’s a mix between CBD and THC that’s perfect for sleeping.

Been using a Resmed with auto-sensing level for nearly 10 years. There are two different "masks" that I use. Wouldn't want to be without the contraption. Ever since I started using it there's no more dozing off in church or at meetings. More energy too.

I had an outpatient procedure done in the early 2000's called somnoplasty. From what I understand, it is not recommended for Sleep Apnea anymore. I was choking and waking up at night so many times that I was very sleepy and tired all day. I tried the CPAP machine during the sleep study and I did not like it since there was so much air being pumped in through the nose that my mouth would open up and my jaw felt like "flailing in the breeze". But the main reason I wanted this procedure was that even when I was awake, I was choking. The soft tissue in the back of the roof my mouth and my uvula had drooped down so much on top of my tongue that I had difficulty breathing and talking. The CPAP would have been useless for this.
The procedure was simple. At the doctor's office they would put three shots (left, right and center) of anesthesia to the roof of the mouth and then on the three locations they would put a piece of wire bent to the contour of the mouth for certain amount of time. I believe it was like a microwave antenna. That would kill the excess tissue on those locations and as the area healed, the body would absorb the dead tissue and the remaining tissue would shrink, reducing the tissue sag.
About 20 years later I am still happy I had it done. It eliminated my choking and the snoring. I immediately started sleeping better.
However, these days all my body aches are really screwing up my sleep but I still do not wake up choking in the middle of the night.
By the way, I am not a farmer.....

People naturally sleep less as they age. Many also are overweight. Being overweight is the root of many health issues. Try a bit of exercise in the evening even if your skinny. I have never used melatonin but it also might be worth trying. I snore like a bear. The wife made a video recently on her iPhone. I couldn't believe it. I sleep well while no-one else does. I am unconcerned. Ha.

The problem isn't falling asleep it's that sleep is more often exhausting than restful.

I tried melatonin before but My issue really isn't falling asleep... it's the breathing while sleeping thing. I'm a bit overweight but that stems from a childhood anxiety thing that left me always hungry from almost starving. So I have to mentally moderate myself because my body never tells me I'm full. I'm 250 so I am not gigantic and I have a fair bit of muscle.

You " can't " or won't ? I've been on one since 97 and only missed 2 nights that I can remember. Im not saying I like it but the sleep is way more important.
I also have also been taking liquid malitonin for a couple of years & it does help me

I understand about anxiety all too well. Another way people compensate and I can personally tell you it works wonders is exercise. I am not talking about joining a gym. Go for a walk every day. Keep increasing the length. Move a little faster week by week. I lost 25 pounds in a month in a bet with my neighbor. Went from 220 to 195. Pretty much quit eating. I would bet a lot of your sleeping problem stems from what might be an extra 25 pounds or so. Try eating less and go for a walk every day. Helps with both sleep and anxiety. I know from experience. Your body will thank you. Google; runners high to get a taste of where your headed .Good luck. I know you can fix it.

I mean I tried it quite a few times for a couple years. It bothers me so bad I get wide awake and if I do sleep it's a very light sleep. I thought Eventually I would get used to it but it never happened. It makes me panic essentially, I hate anything on my face.

I loved going to the gym, usually held me over for the winter. But covid killed that for this winter unfortunately. Weight loss would be great if my body ever told me I was full. Literally if I did not hold back I could eat until I threw up and still be hungry.

I always THOUGHT I slept OK....but my wife said I snored like an SOB and tossed all night. Went for a night at a sleep clinic, and their machine said I “woke up“ an average of once a minute because of poor breathing. Tried a CPAP and hated it at first...but got used to it after a couple weeks. Helps the sleeping, but does NOTHING for your sex life! The missus doesn’t seem to get turned on by the hose on my face and the Darth Vader sounds.

I have a hard time sleeping most nights, both falling asleep and staying asleep. I've tried all sorts of things: melatonin, valerian, chamomille, very little works, and nothing works for very long. So far the most effective sleep aid for me is a marathon run of How the Universe Works.

Watching for more ideas :)
