Any B6100 owners out there?

Are there any other running, driving, working B6100’s out there? Just curious. Mines old but still gets the job done. My steering gear has a lot of play in it. Would anyone have a salvage machine out there I might rob some parts off of? I can get part numbers if that would help. If not on correct thread, admins please post correctly. Thanks.

I found a few on ebay during a quick search. They are pricey. But it looks like several models (earlier and later models of the b series) had that same steering system which might broaden your search in finding one. Its seems the HST steering system is different from the gear driven ones

Appreciate it. A few years ago I found the shaft from the steering wheel down to the gear box in Pennsylvania. New in the box. Guy said I got the last one in the US. The gear box has an adjustment set screw but it’s maxed out. I think the lower gear might tighten it up if I could find one.

I have a 1984 HST bought it new in 84. Doesn't look as nice as yours. Has went through 2 teen age boys. Was going strong until last week. Shut it off, 3 days later would not start. I think I have narrowed it down to the starter. As best I can determine it only has the one safety switch on the clutch. This is the first time I have had to make any repairs. See you are in OK. I am in SE KS

I use mine constantly.

On the steering, are you sure the play in the gearbox is the biggest problem? It also has 4 rod ends on the drag link and the tie rods, the steering knuckles to front axle, and the front axle pivot which can all contribute and some are a LOT easier to improve than others.

I recently purchased this 1985 B6100D with a 1630 front end loader and a B670 backhoe. 615 hours on it. It appears to be in good condition as I was told it’s been garage kept its entire life from previous owners. My first upgrade is to find a block heater to help with starting on the colder days here in NJ.

Make certain your glow plugs are working. The glow indicator should become noticeably hot if observed out of the sun. This is in the pre heat position.
When the key switch is turned to the START position the glow indicator is bypassed and power flows directly to the glow plugs.
Each glow plug with its wire disconnected should measure around 1 ohm between the end terminal and the block. All three should measure close in value.
Sometimes key switches get replaced with incorrect ones by someone who dos not understand the important function it plays in GP operation.
The engine does not have a water pump. Its cooling system is a thermo syphon one which circulates coolant using different temps.
Look on the end of the radiator overflow tube and you may find a whistle. The whistle sounding is a warning the engine is getting too hot.
A friend with a B7100 living in Canada where it gets quite cold could start his on very cold days just using the GP's.

Owned my B6100 since 2007. Rebuilt the steering box, and replaced a grabby clutch. Clutch was not worn at all, but T.O. brng was binding on shaft (rust). Home made: front weight rack, aux hyd pump mount, carry-all, adapted cherry picker to 3-pt. Wood splitter in use since 2007. Just normal maintenance. Runs very well, always starts with with the PC625 battery.

Nice! Ive got 3 engine hoists and keep planning to do that with one of them, maybe this little nudge will do it

Looks like youve already been through finding out just how little one of these things will pick up and drive with without adding some weight up front. Those are about 50lbs each im guessing?

I have a B5100 - same steering issues - a bit wobbly. But up here in the Great White North parts are super hard to find.

And in winter a small block heater in the lower rad hose run for 2-3 hours, makes for easier starting
