I worked till 3pm today. I told my girlfriend toss some waters in the cooler.
We'll ride to the beach and get some seafood and watch the tourist.
So we get some seafood, ride down to a inlet where the fisherman dock and unload. There's a very small beach there where if the tide is out folks sit there or swim. Tide was in today but still plenty busy cars coming and going.
I see off to the right down over the back a woman in a bikini wading out...Carrying A Lobster 🦞 (alive)...I watch...she puts it in the water. Moves it back and forth....and sets it free...wow. A nice Lobster, huge claws, I look..here she comes again...another really nice Lobster, same thing, puts it in the water...moves it back and forth...and let's it go. Her bikini not that I noticed is right up her A. The third trip, out she wades, my camera ready this time. She releases it. Then a forth one. All were nice Lobster.
I've put the hurt on a few Lobster in my time here on earth. But anyways summer in Maine. You just never know what you'll see. (My apologies for the dump sticker on my windshield)

I absolutely love Maine!

The wife and I used to frequent Bar Harbor. I've actually jogged down Cadillac mountain.....TWICE!!! into town with my older sister. TERRIBLE IDEA!!!

My pops and uncle had a beach house on LBI in Jersey. Every summer, we'd spend the first week on the island. 2nd week we'd start truckin north to Maine.

I have several cousins that live in Vermont and Maine. My cousin Adrienne owns (or owned, ain't talked to them in a decade or so) a restaurant in Bar Harbor. Got to cook one night on the line at 17 years old...TOTAL DISASTER, but one heck of an experience LOL.

My Aunt and Uncle have a summer house up there and they would sail their boat every year from Florida to Maine. It was an all wooden hull MASSIVE sailboat that allegedly could not stay in the Florida waters year round.

By far the best lobster I ever had was at their restaurant. Hope to take my family back there some day.

The wife and I 24 years ago at 17 years old in the harbor and at their restaurant having the best of times!

And the aunt's amazing summer home

Thank you for the memories you've just brought back to us!

We did spend a few days at the Bar Harbor Inn in April. The only time poor mainers can afford to stay there, $260. A night. May June July it spikes to $5,6, and 700. A night
The thirsty whale was a good spot we ate several times there.
I see Arcadia had broken all records for tourist this summer. So a good place to avoid.

Not to mention all the construction in Ellsworth...

Used to be that after the Leaf Peepers left in mid-to-late October, you could get around in Ellsworth until Memorial Day or thereabouts. Now the traffic is just nuts 365 days a year. I do my best to plan ALL turns at lights. Otherwise getting onto Route 1/High Street from any side street is a crap shoot. Solid stream of bumper-to-bumper both directions.

Also need to time trips to Bangor carefully as 1A from Ellsworth to Bangor and I-95 is the main escape route from Bar Harbor. I've seen traffic backed up as much as two miles from the light at the intersection of 1A and State Route 46.

This summer Paul is probably the busiest summer I've ever seen. Driving to the beach and back yesterday at least twenty Vermont license plates and hundreds from Massachusetts and lots from NJ and NY and the rest of the country.
Certainly seems no shortage of money if you ride by any hotel or restaurant.
And Bon'jour....I saw plenty of Quebec plates yesterday. Their hating us less !!!

My bet…she was “saving them”. We get that out here with various things that are eaten by people. It’s a thing, people buy soon to be killed/eaten critters and free them. The funny part is most die any way as they have been weakened/removed by the moving process.
