Another hydraulic hose

Had a hose fail, rubbed against the FEL arm. Trying to figure out how to protect the new one. Had a plastic sleeve around it but I don't think it was heavy enough. Any suggestions? I have some plastic tubing that is heavier and I think I can put it on before I connect it eliminating the need to split it to get it on.

I have used this velcro closure Gator Wrap. It is available in multiple diameters, and they cut it to length. You can trim as necessary.

There are many types of protectors available

Search “hydraulic hose protector” to see different types

I suggest getting Kevlar if you get the cloth sleeve type

Perhaps consider shortening or lengthening the hose so the "rubbing area" could be kept either stationary or have minimal movement. Sometimes it's possible.
Another thing is to use a piece of thick hose (radiator or such) in the affected area in addition to the aforementioned suggestions.

I 100% agree with this. Do it right the first time and it should be the last time..

I am sure Kevlar is also a good choice. However, one company that sells both types rates their Kevlar as less UV resistant and less abrasion resistant than their version of Gator Wrap.

I have no experience with Kevlar wraps, but I can say that my Gator Wrap shows no signs of UV degradation or abrasion in 3.5+ years of use on my third function hoses. I wrapped all of my third function hoses in one large velcro closure sleeve; it arrests motion and prevents any rubbing on the tractor.

Thanks for the suggestions, will see what is available and go from there. Kubota dealer gave me a sleeve, free no charge, when I got the new hose so I'll use it until I can get a better option.
