I have only ever seen 1 coyote in the 30+ years we have lived here. I have about 8 cameras set up in the woods with separate infrared light sources for illumination at night. I also have a couple of cameras in front of the garage.

Early this AM a family of coyotes strolled through. I know this isn't a biggie for those who live out west but here in suburban CT it is a bit unusual.

We see a lot of coyote on our game cams up here.

I was showing my buddy a 400lb bear I caught on one of the cameras I have in his backyard. He S##t himself - "that is in my backyard where my daughter plays?" He wanted me to sleep there until I bagged it. I already tagged a bear this year so he will have to wait until next year.

I also caught on one of my woods cameras NHsleddog, he is about 25m from our house. It was a cold, rainy, foggy February night:

and then a few days laterI was out breaking up a pepper for the fox family that lives about 50m from our house. I never saw him until I went back in the house. I knew I tripped a recording that I was going to delete. You have to look carefully in the background. Because of the perspective distortion of the lens you can't tell the bear is <50m from me :)

coyotes are fairly common down here in rural north Florida as well. Folks see them around all the time. Never seen any at my place, but have heard them many nights in the distance calling. One thing we do see a ton of is red foxes, Last year we had a family of foxes build a den not 100 yards from our front door. We would see the baby kits out playing in the dirt road almost daily. The mama limped on her back end as she wouldnt put any weight on her back right leg. I havent seen her lately but for months Id see her heading out to go hunt on 3 legs, clearly some permeant damage had been done on that 4th leg. It is simple observations like that which often lend perspective to life. I never saw those kits appear to be in poor health, so she was still keeping them fed on those 3 legs. Occasionally we would see the daddy - he looked super fluffy and healthy, nice bright red colors. I'm sure he pitched in too, but it was often that 3 legged mama Id see out looking for food.

I’ve seen them late at night cruising the dumpsters in downtown Bedford, Texas. Now, if you don’t know where Belford Texas is...it’s in the middle of the Dallas’Ft.Worth complex. It’s as far DOWNTOWN in the middle of a wide-area metropolitan area as uptown Manhattan or central Chicago Or Los Angeles.

Lot here in eastern NC, the other night while dressing some deer we heard 2 packs yelping at each other.

I do like to hear them communicate it is cool and little creepy. Some local fire departments still use the sirens to let members know their is a fire call. The high pitch sets them off. You can hear them howling what seems like everywhere.

We usually get plenty of pics throughout the year.

Last year one in a million pics, got a picture of a bobcat mid air jumping from a tree limb after a bird sitting on the ground. Accidently deleted the picture when cleaning off the card from my trail cam.

That's a killer ;(

Ya know tho - it possible to get back a deleted file (as long as you haven't written on it)

It was deleted directly from the sd card taken from my trail camera. And, yes it has been written over many times since last season.

thanks though.

too bad, that must have been an awesome clip. This is the only bobcat I've ever seen here. Actually caught him on camera twice.
bobcat
The mailman insists there is a 90lb bobcat in the neighborhood. Let's just say I'm more than a little bit doubtful.
