The bald eagles have really come back. We see them more and more now here in AZ. I don't think eagles migrate so hopefully they will stay around and populate.

We have so many raptors here between Mexican eagles, Harris Hawks, Red Tails, Perigrine, tiny ground-dwelling owls and big Horned Owls... and then the Ravens.

A friend in town got a call from a neighbor who found a big Horned Owl stuck in her bird netting. Alan wore gloves and the exhausted bird tried one bite on Alan and then figured out he was there to help. The owl, hanging upside down for most of the night, completely relaxed as Alan held him while his wife slowly cut him loose. In about ten minutes, they had him free and put him on the ground where he vaulted into the air. Wish I could upload the short video clip but its not hosted anywhere...

The bald and golden eagle migrate through here in the spring and fall.

Vultures have started really nesting around here! Apparently the nest in old abandoned farm yards which are plentiful here. There is not many family farms left here, it's all big corporations farming the land.

We almost hit a bald eagle the other day on the way to work. He was just down on the road munching on some nice roadkill.
On another note, at my grandma's farm in Iron River (we vacation there every summer), when my dad is cleaning fish on the dock he has to be careful. He'll throw the guts over his shoulder into the water and one of the young eagles nested right close to the dock will come swooping down and gobble that right up. It's pretty cool to watch.

edit: that's Iron River, MI. The lake is Sunset Lake.

We do not have any eagles here flying around. But I have a pole an the land where sometimes a buzzard sits and look out for some mice...
It's always great. Sometime there are two of them on the stick, an adult and a yongster.

I joke with my kids, that these are German Sea Eagles. :p

I have not seen an eagle down in this neck of the woods but we have a lot of BIG red tail hawks. There was a pair that used the same nest over the hill every year and every year it got bigger. Then some yuppies bought the property and knocked down every tree on the place. When they cut that tree down it sounded like somebody dropped a truck when that nest hit the ground. I went down and measured it and it was about 4 foot across and maybe 3 feet thick. Lord only knows how many generations of hawks used that nest
