I have seen videos of those guys skimming the waters edge and landing on the beach sand and taking off the same way,,, damn fine pilots I would say

Get enough wind, could fly backwards. Wish i had a better view of the river, float planes are taking off and landing all day long.

Some very skilled pilots to land in 10 feet.

I learned to fly more than 30 years ago. One day, an old tail-dragger Piper Cub was in line for take off just in front of me. I was a young pilot and was floored to see it lift off the ground in about 50 feet. It was the first time I'd seen such a thing. As I recall, the wind that day wasn't a thing special that day. Not really. As a reference, my take off roll in my Cessna 152 was pretty normal - 1000 feet or so. So, these guys in the video are pretty awesome pilots.

Long ago I lived near an airport where there was a Helio Courier dealer. They demonstrated it by taking off and landing on the runway--crossways.
