Those tires on mcmxi's ride, looks more like R14's than R4's!
They look awesome!
The more I used the siping tool the more I wanted to continue using it. It's very satisfying running that hot blade through a lug and kind of hard to put it down. I only used one blade for all of the cuts but I think that's because I had the current turned down which resulted in a really nice finish on the cut surface of the rubber, and good blade life.

I made up stencils and used a silver sharpie to mark the lugs before cutting. I figured I'm only going to do this once so might as well do it right. Thanks again to the generosity of @pokey1416 who mailed his groover to me. I did mail it back in case anyone is wondering. 😂

From what I read a bit ago, the point of the R14s is to replace R1s or R4s. So, some company might make R14s, but it could be some work to find the right size to replace the R4s.

I'd try contacting tire manufacturers.
I tried Discount Tire, no luck. Amazon had R4 with the rim was 300 and change. 160 for the tire only. I purchased both because I destroyed my rim. Now I have R4’s instead of R14. I should have snapped a pic of them mounted. Because the R14 was 1.5 inches taller than the R4. Same exact tire size. The R14 is a more rounded tire and sits notably taller than the.

I had 60 hours on my R14 before I replaced them. Front only. How many hours did you get on your front tires ? My Amazon options were R4, nothing showed up on R14 search.
I see the max pressure is 60 psi. Do you run max pressure ?
they were on my machine when I bought it used in 2008 so I cant say exactly. It had around 720ish hours on it then and around 1300 now. Mostly off pavement use. Tread is probably around 30% if I had to guess.

I was going to put away the Kubota after plowing this am and was going downhill that had a slight passenger side lean as well, almost made it to my destination and started the 4 wheel sideways slide. Was not playing that game. I hit the differential lock and was able to reverse out before going sideways down a steep hill. Did I mention i dont like my R4’s?

I did something similar which is why I use chains now.

Has anyone installed ice studs into the R4 tires after sniping them? I think that would be the best for traction in ice and snow.

Do tires need the little holes in them to install studs? I have seen car tires for winter use and they have holes for stud installation not sure if there are special studs for regular “no hole” tires 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes I've done it for years, they work incredibly well, but they are pricey and they come out often where they then become a puncture hazzard for other tires.

No holes required they make their own holes.
Be careful to get the right length!

I installed them in all four BX25 tires when I had that tractor. I ran them for a few years until I had 9,000 sq.ft of asphalt installed and removed them to prevent damage to the asphalt. They worked really well when I was using them. I have them in a jar in the garage.

So my tires are about at the end of their life not due to wear but age/weatherchek/previous damage, etc. looking online i cant really find anything in my size but R4s. Am I missing something? I’d like R14s this go round but none of the major players seem to have my rear tire size.
sizes are;

front 27x10.5-15NHS
rear 15x19.5NHS
