Alternate Hydraulic Fluid for L3800?

I just purchased a 2014 L3800 and BH77 with 77hrs. It has been in storage for the most part and still has the factory filters. It has been greased but I assume that it has not had the 50 hr service and still has original fluids. Due to the age and unclear history I would like to start fresh and do a full service. The manual recommends Super UDT-2 preferred or regular UDT. Are there comparable brands of hydraulic fluids out there that meet these standards?

SUDT-2 is now the available fluid. This is a subject which has been hashed many times. Since there is not a standard for the SUDT-2 it is difficult to determine acceptable substitutes. With an L-3800 would stick now with SUDT-2.

If you're planning on keeping it and getting good service out of it for years to come use Kubota filters and oils in it.

Being in the automotive and diesel industry for a lifetime I've seen many aftermarket filter and oil manufacturer's sales guy's claim their stuff is manufactured "above and beyond" manufacturer's specs but have seen otherwise. Personal I can't take the chance and buy only Kubota filters and Hydraulic oil. Motor oil and coolant is a different story.

For what it is worth, the price difference between UDT and UDT2 is somewhat small.

For example:

Kubota: 2.5gal Standard UDT, Part # 70000-20002 Messick's Price $45.76

Kubota: 2.5GL SUPER UDT2, Part # 70000-40202 Messick's Price $54.65
