Alkon Flow Control Valve

I have a JF2 flow control valve on the oiler system of my hydraulic saw. I want to reduce the flow. My question relates to the set screw on the control knob. Does the set screw lock the flow control knob in place? Do I need to back out the set screw, then rotate the knob, then lock it down?

See this for information but it looks like that is a locking screw. So YES seems to be the answer for both of those questions.

Russell, thanks for the reply. I looked at a few other diagrams of the valve, but not the one you posted.

The valve is located in a position where I have to remove a steel shield to get to it. I simply loosened the set screw, turned the knob in about 1/4 turn. I have no way of measuring the results other then using the saw and seeing if the chain still has too much oil, then readjusting or leave it. I probably ought to put the allen wrench in my tool box (and hope I find it when needed). Thanks again.
