Has anyone bought off alibaba? It looks like you can get a great deal on equipment. Is the stuff any good ??? What was the experience like ??

Depends on how much tolerance you have for losing your $$$$. There are plenty of places that sell Chinese-made implements and you are much better off buying local than taking a "mail order bride" that you are basing your decision-making on pictures.
How will you obtain warranty or any other service on equipt that has no dealership or retail outlet here in the U.S. (or wherever you are.)

There are a few "big box stores" over here that sell that mower for $1000 more..... I have seen this on rototillers for tractors. I think its a 50/50 prop either way.

No experience with the one in your link...but...I'd be looking elsewhere for sure. Even my cheap BETSCO unit is all welded nicely. That one in your link has all the hardware thru bolted to the unit. That, just ain't gonna last very long.
You may just have to open your wallet a bit wider or find something used that appears to be better built.

$1300 + min $500 shipping = $1800, call it an even $2000 US$ for '6 ft mower '.
Use that number and what can you buy locally ? Parts, like 'flails' are kinda important spares !

Equipment is all over the place for quilty, some good some bad.
Sometimes they never ship at all.
I have heard many a horror story about long delays, Non shipments, and over all bad quality.
And even though they say they have a good return policy, it's rather inconvenient most of the time.
Also note that 99% of the time this is not a direct delivered item, you will have to get a freight forwarder or go to the port to pick it up.
And even if everything goes to plan and you get it, replacement parts support and availability of parts will be non existent.
Most equate purchasing something from there like this as a throw away item, when it breaks you throw it away.

hmm $5K. Say it lasts 5 years, cost is then $1000 to use it,per year. Can you do $1000 of use per year ? Say used 10x, that's $100 per use. If you value YOUR time at say $50/hr could you do the work in less than 2 hours ?
I KNOW the rototiller I bought 10 years ago is now 'free',heck more than paid for itself again and again.
The 6by10 dump trailer paid for itself in the first 2 weeks.

It depends on how handy you are....scrapyards have great deals, though hit and miss, unless you get on the list. check local papers,online,etc.
you can use google of course, just put your city first to reduce a zillion hits to a few thousand !
