ok on my l1500dt I'm getting air in the lines.
I bled the filter, the nut on the injection pump, lines coming out of injector pump.
I didn't bleed the lines at the injectors. I thought maybe since I bled them coming out of the pump that would have got it. Should I go back and bleed them too? I hated to but I had to use a touch of starter fluid to crank it. I thought that fixed it but it didn't. It sat for about an hour and did it again. This time I hit the glow plugs and it sputtered to a run. I know this is going to sound stupid but could the cap be bad on the tank and its sucking air? I am kind of at a loss.

Yes, bleed the lines at the injectors. The cap on the fuel tank has nothing to do with getting air in the lines. The only way air can get in the suction line to the pump is either your fuel level in the tank is too low, a loose connection in the fuel line / filter assy. somewhere or possibly a pin hole or crack somewhere in the suction line.

freewheel gave you good advice, you most likely have a leak somewhere in the suction part of the fuel system and air is easier to move than fuel,
Just FYI fuel tanks have to be vented or fuel would eventually not flow due to a vacuum within the tank.
