Hiyall!

Just took apart the air filter on my b6000D to change the oil in it. When I popped the oil pan off lo and behold there was nothing but the oil pan filled with thick oil crud.

After looking at the parts manual I see there's a wingnut, some washers and the damper air cleaner. The damper is something like 90 bucks new. As far as I understand from this thread:

its essentially a metal bowl with two holes in it that sits in the oil pan, I'm assuming to prevent splash into the screen.

Can I just use a different bowl with a few holes in it? If so, how far up is the damper supposed to sit off the bottom of the oil pan? How bad is it to run the tractor without the damper?

Thanks!
