Mine has broken three times now. My first fix was to reweld broken places. Lasted 25 hours, 2nd fix with thicker base plate.Lasted 32 hours.
3rd fix another layer on base plate. Still working. What causes this is when engine is at idle, there is a lot more vibration on the filter housing. I try not to let the engine idle on low rpm now. If it breaks again, the sure fix is to put
on a brace bar.
The biggest worry is the engine studs fracturing also.

The vibration in my BX 2230 air filter has major movement at idle and various engine rpm as the filter/bracket goes into resonance at certain speeds. Not good.

I used a short bungy cord and some cable ties from the bracket to the air filter to damp out the vibrations.. Been working fine for some years.

Ask your dealer to refer to PSB-2003-018.

That said, the air filter location on the pre bx-50 series tractors was poor, IMO. The filter is on a metal bracket that is too far away from the engine, which enhances vibration when the engine is turned on and then again when the engine is turned off. Because of the design, it might not be possible to completely solve the cracking with the filter.

I've turned up the idle a bit on some of the older BX's, even after the updated kit was installed
