My local dealer has sky high pricing. Being frugal I would like to try to save money if possible.

I understand that there is a chance of being too cheap and I dontdwant to go down that road.

Any problem with name brand filters such as Wix or Baldwin on these units?

I wouldn't be afraid to use them after all look at the country of origin on the Kubota filters, obviously they buy as cheap as possible.

Out of interest, what is the price difference between "comparable" filters?

WIX and Baldwin are well regarded in the filter world, and I use WIX oil filters on my Ford trucks rather than OEM. However, given the cost of my tractors, I have no intention of using anything but Kubota hydraulic oil filters on them and that most likely won't change. Engine oil filters are less of a risk and I'll consider WIX or Baldwin in a few years, but for now it's Kubota all the way. The potential cost "savings" simply aren't worth it to me.

Especially since filter changes aren’t that frequent.

I don't think a filter is the place to save money. It's a few dollars at most.

I have no problem at all using aftermarket filters. I only use WIX and Baldwin. When the MX6000 was under warranty I used Kubota filters on it. The MX has Wix on it currently. My Kubota side by side is still under warranty so it still has Kubota filters on it. When the warranty is out itwill probably get wix on it also. For years I used NAPA gold which is made by WIX had a uncle in the NAPA business. If its only a couple bucks then I am running OEM if not I am using aftermarket. Kubota at least in my area which no dealers are close seem to do not do like JD does and run filter sales in the winter. Every Feb JD runs a huge filter sale and normally gets there prices down to or below what Wix is. I buy all my filter needs for my JD equipment during that sale for the year. So most of my JD equipment has JD filters on them.

If your local dealer has "sky-high pricing" then consider buying from Kubota dealers that have an on-line presence. And buy in case lots.

Check service kits. I got one for my Kubota and it was way cheaper than buying individual filters. All filters required are in those service kits.

Im not familiar with the coo. Are they Chinese garbage?
It doesn't matter where they're made, what matters is that they're made to Kubota's specific standards which includes filter housing strength and thickness, filtration media, flow rate, filtration size, durability over the life of the filter, o-ring size and material, bypass spring pressure, internal thread dimensions and more. The only way to know that the filter that you're using meets Kubota's standards is to buy genuine Kubota filters.

Are WIX and Baldwin 100% equivalent? Maybe, but you're just guessing that they are. I do that every time I put a WIX filter on my F-250 or F-450 or a Purolator filter on my Jeep. I'm trusting the reputaion of those companies to build a good filter and making the assumption that those aftermarket filters exceed the OEM filters sold by Ford and Chrysler. I just don't see any aftermarket filters exceeding Kubota filters in terms of quality.

On the old NH I started using KN oil filters. Several years of use before trading in the NH for a SCUT.
On the BX I sticking with Kubota filters until the warranty period is over. Checked K&N's website. Couldn't find a filter specifically for the 2380. Many other Kubota models listed. Will stick with the Kubota. Similar price at the dealer to what might be the price of a KN if they stocked.

Over the decades the fluids, filters, and shear pins (unless desperate) are parts I don't skimp on. ~1/4 century running the NH and now ~3/4 of a year without any issues.

I don't think a filter is the place to save money. It's a few dollars at most.
I’ve never understood the logic of (possibly) stepping over dollars to pick up dimes.

To each their own I guess?

I’m absolutely in favor in using alternative filters, if the spec’s meet or exceed what the OEM shipped the unit with, but definitely not just to save 30 bucks on a service.

The engine oil filter is made in Indonesia, I didn't check the others. I doubt they are garbage but they are imported for a reason.
Yes, Kubota is a for-profit company and is traded on the Japanese stock exchange so there's a fiduciary responsibilty to the shareholders. Complex machines have parts made all over the world these days, and it makes sense to have a filter made in Indonesia if it meets certain specifications and also increases the company's profit margin. That's good business.

Based on my experience with Kubota products, which has been nothing short of amazing over the past 10+ years with four tractors, a generator and numerous Land Pride implements, I believe that Kubota, like many Japanese companies values their reputation above all else, and I don't think for one second that Kubota would put their name on any part that doesn't meet their very high standards.

Like I said earlier, I don't think I'll ever use a non-Kubota hydraulic oil filter, and frankly, unless another company proves that their oil filters are significantly superior in some way, I see no reason to look beyond Kubota branded engine oil filters either.

Comparing the three oil filters that my MX requires:

WIX filters on Amazon vs. Kubota from Messicks
Engine oil: 51307 $14.60 HH164-32430 $15.74
Hydraulic filter: 57098 $49.50 HHTA0-37710 $61.63
Transmission filter: 57616 $77.78 HHTA0-59900 $86.69

So all three WIX filters from Amazon costs $141.88 compared to $164.06 for the Kubota filters from Messicks (or local dealer), so my incentive to use WIX filters over Kubota is what exactly? $22 difference to assume that the WIX filters meet or exceed Kubota filters just isn't worth it to me, but ultimately we're all free to make our own choices.

To each his own! Save a few bucks on a filter on a multi-thousand dollar tractor so you can have a pizza and a beer. Make sense to me.......

How many filters are you guys using per year? With high usage by me, I'd use 3. I didn't buy my Kubota to see if other filters "might" be just as good. YMMV.

My Cummins gets Wix filters, and Rotella oil………20 years and nearly 300K later…….still doing fine.

Wifes van get Wally World oil and Wally World filters…………8 years and 240K+………still doing fine.

Yamaha 300 outboard gets ONLY Yamaha filters, and ONLY Yamalube oils…….4 years (uncertain of hours) …..and still doing fine.

Kubota L2501 gets Kubota Filters, SUDT and (now) Rotella engine oil…………….140’ish hours and 4’ish years later…….still doing fine.

I can not “justify” any of my decisions on filter/oil brands, but luckily I don’t have to.

(My money, My machines, My choices ;) ;)(y))

I am unsure of the wisdom of saving a few bucks on filters, but I also drink cheap covvffee, I buy knock-off tools (sometimes), knock-off aspirins, but refuse to drink anything but the finest rum………..

It’s a complicated world I guess…………………..:unsure::)
