I am looking to purchase a subcompact or compact tractor to help maintain my 20 acres in and around my house.

I have settled on Kubota and have the option to pick up a BX2360 with 500 hours on it or a B2400 with 1,000 hours on it.

Just curious as to what members of the forum think about these two machines and which one you might go with. The BX2360 with belly mower is $7,500 and the B2400 with belly mower and front end loader is $9,000.

Appreciate opinions and thoughts. Thanks.

With 20 acres I would think looking at an L would be much better, but you know your place.
A FEL is worth it's weight in gold and with it being removable it gives you the best of both worlds.
A belly or MMM is nice but can be limiting when it come to maneuverability.

Thanks for the insight. I plan on actively maintaining about 1/3 of the property right around the house and will let the other stay in different stages of growth for wildlife habitat.

I will also be maintaining fencelines and driveway.

Any thoughts or concerns on that little 3 cylinder having 1,000 hours on it. Looks like the previous owner average about 50 hours per year on the B2400.

While both are capable little tractors,, like the man said going with an L might be a better all around choice

I'd also look for an L. You generally get 50% more tractor for about 10% more $$. An L will pick up more, pull harder, and still do a fair to middling job with a finish mower.

If you are only picking between those two and not an L , then get the B2400!
Now I love the ol BX, but the B series is a little larger frame and smidge bigger engine and larger tires....and like wolfman said - the loader is worth its weight in gold ! I would say that it is a fair price on both, but much better bang for the buck on the B series even despite the higher hours.

Like everyone said previously, 20 acres would benefit with an L, but if you're dead set on a smaller machine like BX or B, then DEFINITELY the B! I have 3 acres and use my B for mowing, logging, driveway maintenance, and general landscaping....I have used plenty of BX's and they're good for what they are but for 20 acres you'll DEFINITELY be looking for more size and hp in no time.

HP is part of the factor, but stability, lifting power, implement size, etc also weigh into the mix. The B is a much larger/more stable tractor....the BX is an overgrown lawn tractor (with lots of the great Kubota features like 4wd, hst, and diesel engine).

Go B....or L, you'll never, EVER regret getting a size or two larger tractor than you originally planned for. I've never heard someone say "Its a great tractor but I should have gotten a smaller one". If I had a $ for every time someone said they wanted a larger machine.....

Bill I don't want to hijack the thread, but the BX series aint no lawn tractor! I have had JD, Cub and a few others that were suppose to be small TRACTORS and were nothing but lawn mowers and self destructed in short order. I got the BX, and son unless you have put one through hell you have no idea of what they are capable of. While they do an admirable, job cutting grass which most see their lives doing, pull a plow or tiller push dirt dig dirt and the list goes on. Sorry to highjack this thread but if you aint used one don't compare it to something it AINT,, and yes an L would be his best bet,, in MHO you understand.. ok Im all done ranting now
