Right now, I'm leaning towards the M4D; the creature comforts (especially being able to safely get my kid into the cab with me!) and bit of extra functionality/power are worth the ~$2000 difference.

Haying is out of the question, I appreciate everyone's advice on that.

I'll follow up with pictures once I take possession of the unit. :D
That's a great choice and will put you into a more modern version of the very capable M7060 with around 70hp and a much nicer cab. Are you going to add in the Creep Speed Kit (M9131)?

If I were in @chromatica's shoes I'd be looking at an M4 over an M7060, and if money allowed, an M5 over an M4. As much as I like the MX series it's still a compact entry level utility tractor that seems big to many, particularly if moving up from the BX and B tractors, but ultimately doesn't compare to the M series.

You can't go wrong with the M5 tractors! I replaced an M7060 with an M5-091.

I skipped the creep speed kit, hopefully I don’t regret that.
I think it's one of those things that once you have it and use it you wouldn't want to be without it, but if you've never had that feature you don't know what you're missing. Kind of like buying a tractor with a cab. Many are perfectly happy with an open station tractor, but once they've owned a tractor with a cab there's no going back. As a Korean girlfriend used to say "Not knowing is medicine". ;)

(I’m not @mcmxi but…) For me it’s the much nicer cab and related features for relatively not much more money. Messick’s has a video on the differences. The M4D seems like what you’d make after you took the years of learnings from producing M7060’s and decided to make a new version.
I think you nailed the explanation. A friend has an M7060 and it's a great tractor and one that I'd love to have, but I'd pick an M4 over an M7060 if buying new for the reasons mentioned above.

Do you still have the M5-091? I have 28 acres but will be cutting and baling 50+ acres of hay. Currently have an MX6000 but looking to go to a m7060, M4d-071 or the M5-091. Worried the M5 may be too big or that I won't use it, worrying that I will tear up the ground.
