I have a driveway of crushed rock. Last year I purchased a land plane (leveler) and it did a great job of redistributing the gravel (see before and after photos below). However, now I need to add some gravel to certain spots--especially at the curve in the road. Has anyone used the land plane to try to disburse rock? Do I need to get a box blade?

My idea was to plane the driveway again and then add rock with the FEL where needed and then back to the plane to smooth out. Just not sure how well the plane will work with distribution of new material as opposed to material already packed in.

Has anyone here used the land plane for this or have any ideas on the best way to do this?

Late farmer across the street just used a heavy bar and chains on 600+' of driveway, every sunday, after church, before lunch. It was a GREAT looking driveway..... new owner 'let it go'.... citybot....oh well...
if you have or can borrow a 4' wide roller , use it on the driveway, you need to pack the material down.

I have a box blade, but no land plane. Gotten pretty good with the BB.

I find that a couple/few passes with the BB’s rippers down, and some “re-profiling” as needed does great things. Sometimes saves me adding material altogether, but often less than I expected.

Some planes have rippers too, but don’t know if they can move material around like a BB.

Doesn’t answer your question well, but I can tell from your pictures that I wouldn’t order stone until I took a few passes over your driveway with my BB..... I would dig into the edges/shoulders where the stone has pushed out and you might be surprised what you end up with.....😀

Just use your bucket to back drag the gravel into the low spots and level, then use the plane to make it pretty. I wouldn't buy a box just for that since you already own the plane.

Don'y know if you have a Piranha toothbar, but they help with spreading/distributing gravel/rock/etc.
