We have had a ton of snow this year and ice to boot so im thinking it might be time to add a front loader to my bx in addition to my rear blade that gets most of the snow duty. I wanted the loader when i bought new last year but couldnt justify the extra 3000 at the time. My dealer said he will install the valve and sell the loader for $3000 after the fact as well so thats why i decided to pass on the loader or the valve version from the start as there didnt appear to be any savings involved. My question is this.... Im a bit OCD and trust few people to do a job correctly or as well i can do myself. How hard is it to add the valve to my tractor and are there any tutorials out there for me to look. All my searches end up being how to take the loader on and off but nothing about installing the 4 way valve on the tractor. I remember seeing a post last year where we had a member or did it themselves so i know it can be done. Any insight or suggestions appreciated.

If the dealer will install the loader and valves for no saving with DIY, let him do it and check it over when he finishes. About the only thing they can get wrong is bolt and fitting torque. When it comes back, get wrenches and a torque wrench and check it out.

Satisfy your ocd the easy way. Let dealer install it then you can take it apart piece by piece and re-install to make sure it is all done right. That way at least you have a pattern to follow.

That might not be a bad idea....i just worry they will strip something or lord knows...not sure why ive just had bad luck with flunky dealer mechanics and kids working in these shops in the past. Never the "qualified technician or dealer experience" they show on tv. That said my dealer totally rocks....just dont know about his shop guys....

I'll bet that if the guy at the top totally rocks, everyone who is supporting him is at least as good, and likely even better. If you think about it, I believe you'll decide it would be a safe bet to trust it to him.

Heck, if you aren't 100% certain, then just have a private chat with him and explain your concern; give him a chance to ensure that the job gets done to your satisfaction.

Also a good idea and good point. Think I'll go that route.
