Hi all,

this is my first time posting on the forum and am looking to see if anyone has any insight on this. I have a grey market L2202-m 2 wheel drive tractor that I modified and bolted a TYM X25 loader attachment too, I’m trying to tap into the tractor pump/manifold for a pressure line and a return for the loader. There were two hard lines I removed with banjo bolts that are no longer used in the manifold and I installed fittings and hoses. The ports are labeled “PF” which is where I pulled supply and “EF” where I installed a return line. I have flow but doesn’t seem to have pressure, I adjusted both screws in front of manifold but no change. Does anyone know if what I’m doing is possible? The lift on the 3 point works well. Thanks!

I am not sure what you have done or how but will try to tell you generally how to tap into the tractor pump hydraulic system.

There should be two lines connected to the hydraulic pump. The smaller one is the high pressure line that you want to tap into. In a basic way you can cut that line in two and create the supply point and the return point. The supply point would naturally be the one coming from the pump. The return point would be the line going to the rear of the tractor.

You do NOT use a Tee but two elbows one on each end.

This thread shows a block some older tractors have that can be changed to use for getting hydraulic pressure. In post #1 it shows how to change the flow path.

If you can post a picture of the “manifold” that may help us figure out how to help.

That sounds like a start. If you have flow you have pressure Tell us more about the "two screws" and the loader valve. Pictures of the connections help immensely.

Thanks for the reply!
Attached are a couple pictures. There were two hardlines hooked up to the ports where the new hoses are hooked up now. Those ran to a solenoid assembly which controlled a small cylinder that raised and lowered one side of a 3 point attachment I believe. I ripped that all out. The top hose is labeled “EF” and had great flow when unhooked and engine running. The lower port is labeled “PF” and has very slow oil flow when hoses are unhooked and engine running. I think could cut the pressure line from pump and plum into that but if possible I would like to be able to use 3 point lift and loader at the same time if that’s possible.
Thanks!

Thats a priority flow divider - typically used for a power steering takeoff.

PF = Priority Flow
EF = Excess Flow

I dont know what you ripped out but I would put it back until you figure it out.

Tapping in to the delivery hardline is the correct way to add the loader and if done correctly lets you use everything concurrently.

The old lines were capped off and my tractor doesn’t have power steering but I’ll cap them back up now I know I’m barking up the wrong tree! Could you offer some advice on how to do it correctly? Attached are pictures with the supply line from pump circled. From what I’m gathering is I need to cut that and supply the loader valve with supply side and then tap into otherside of cut line for my return? Doesn’t that affect the flow/pressure of the lifting arms in the back?
Thanks!

Also does anyone know the GPM of the hydraulic pump on this tractor? Loader attachment requires 11GPM.
Thanks!
Charles
Very doubtful your tractor will produce 11 GPM. Something like 8 GPM more likely.

Your loader valve needs to be set up for power beyond. and MUST have an inlet relief valve.
  1. Cut the delivery pipe in two and install compression fittings on both ends. Probably metric tube requiring DIN fittings.
  2. Connect the pump side of pipe to inlet port on the loader valve.
  3. Connect power beyond port on loader valve to other end of pipe. This continuesc he supply to the 3pt valve.
  4. Then connect tank port on the loader valve to the sump on the tractor.
Thats it.

Is there a rectangular block (two pieces bolted together) in the pipe you indicated? It might be on to of the tran case and brazed into the hardline.

Another thought on how you can do this, if you have access to machining tools.

1) Remove the existing high pressure line completely.
2) Measure the round block at the ends of that line and machine a new block (including the oring seal and bolt holes to mount it with) but include a SAE port fitting at the center of the block that is around the same size as the hole in the block.
3) install the new block at the pump and at the valve area.
4) install SAE PORT to JIC adapters at both blocks
5) install JIC swivel end hoses to and from the FEL valve (that must have a pressure relief valve in it)

Thanks guys for the information! I will look into more tonight and see what’s going to require the least amount of modification. One other question, the loader valve does have a pressure relief around 2200psi but I don’t see a port for running a return line. It should have a return line correct?

Kubota requires open center valves so be sure the TYM valve is open center which allows the pump to just move low pressure fluid through the valve until you divert it to a cylinder by moving the joystick.

Then most valves will have several ports on them. There is a Power in port usually labeled P or IN.
The valve should also have a Neutral port also called Tank Return usually labeled N or T. You must have a Power Beyond port to get the pressure flow to the next valve in the line (your 3PH). That is normally a special fitting that screws into a neutral port and changes that port to a PB port. Then a separate Neutral port is used as the tank return port.

So the line from the pump supplies fluid to the FEL valve IN port.
A second line from the PB port then goes to the other (rear) end line on the tractor to provide power for the 3PH and dumps back to the transmission sump.
A third line runs from the FEL valve T port to a hole in the transmission case to dump fluid from the FEL cylinders as they move.

Pictures in next post

Here is my L185F configuration using the block I refefenced above.

Red comes from the pump, block diverts it to the red hose that provides power to a rear remote valve (similar to a FEL valve). The green is the PB flow from the rear remote valve back to the block that now completes the flow path to the 3 PH. The blue is the tank return from the rear remote valve. (I see a similar port in one of your pictures but you can also use the fill port (yellow) but that has to be sealed up by machined stuff when used.)

The loader MUST have BOTH a tank and power beyond return connection to the tractor. They TYM valve is perfect for your needs.

Tank return is often accomplished by repurposing the hydraulic oil filler port. This is typical OEM plumbing for tractors of your vintage. The tank return adapter is #1 and still availsble. You dont have the takeoff block (#11) but they are easily made. Or just cut a piece out of the pipe and install two tube fittings

Snap pictures of the FEL valve and @TheOldHokie can (probably if the picture is “good”) identify the ports that you need to use
