Call me an old fuddy-duddy, but I think re-legalizing fireworks was a BAD idea. Ladyfingers, yes. Mortar-launched explosives? Not so much.
Not to mention the noise pollution and the fire danger. I've been putting up with idiot neighbors launching this crap for two weeks.

Doncha know his parents are pissed at him. All the resources they devoted to get him growed up and through school and then he goes and uses his cranium as a launcher backstop for a mortar. The recoil must have been in the hundreds of pounds. It probably broke his neck as well.

We're known to get a little crazy around here with the mortars 
But our tube holder is a couple 16x16 pavers and a couple of large cinder blocks. The cinder blocks are the perfect size to slip over the launching tubes to keep them stable and in position. We would stand back from them about thirty feet after lighting them, and you can still feel the force when they take off Had one explode about five feet in the air and it about knocked us on our butts . We set up another 4 tubes after that, to give them a chance to cool before using them again.
You gotta be brain dead to do something like that guy did.

So, as a kid we played with firecrackers. Available at every convenience store.
Now fireworks are ok, but firecrackers are illegal. Whats up with that?
Was some of the most fun i ever had growing up.
Had a buddy that used to bring them up for me, but even that has gone by the wayside.
I think people should be a little more dilligent when it comes to stupid human tricks. Mind you i tried to tell my buddy he shouldnt be pulling nails that way, ended up stepping off his roof, shattering both heels. Left us to finsh roof. Maybe it was his plan all along......
