Yeah well next week is the start of deer season here in the keystone so Im getting my stuff out to get all my stuff together. Took my coat out of the closet in the garage,, the little bastards chewed a hole above the pocket and CLEANED OUT EVERY BIT OF INSULATION ON THE WHOLE RIGHT SIDE OF THE COAT. Now I have to buy a new coat,, there are now packets of mouse poison and traps all over the place,, I am so pizzzzed

Hey, they get cold too!

Or maybe Cinderella needed a new winter coat and they made one for her... yours just happened to be the donor.

Sorry, considering the damage that mice CAN do, sacrificing a jacket to the mouse gods might not be so bad!

(Still chuckling here... no, really very sorry it happened! Can't stop chuckling though!)

Better the coat than the wiring on your tractor or worse yet your car.

skeets, there was a post on OTT about a year ago about mice and folks remedies to get rid of them. Someone posted a link to HomeDepot for some ultra sonic gizmo. Three for $20.

I had a 1600# bag of 20% protein pellets and, believe it or not, mice go into that bag with gusto. I bought a pack of the gizmo's and plugged one in and hung the cord right on the side of the container I had made. I haven't had a mouse, rat, coon, possum or cow get into the pellets since. And that was about a year ago.

Give them a try!!

My question is, where did they put all that insulation?

I found a bunch of seed on on of my shelves above workbench. Only thing i know of was the poulin's rodent poison i was putting out. I really dont like poisoning them, my dog and neighbours dog will catch and eat mice. Dont want to make puppies sick. Or worse. But the little scoundrels were nesting in my arc welder. I watched one climb up my welding cable-hand over hand. It was amazing to watch but they had to go.
I make a habit of mowing really short around my outbuildings, makes it easier for the predators to see them. Whenever i mow, a couple crows hang out and go after the mice i scare out of the grass.

Speaking of Deer, my buddy had to dispatch a little wounded one this morning. Who wounds an animal and leaves it. He figures it was suffering for a couple days. Blood trails all over the field. Bad for the hunter going to get booted off property-him and his buddies. Game wardens took it. Getting donated for food.

I'm with you we have a real issue with mice here.

My trap line scored about 20+ of them #%_%_%_+*# critters last fall.

This year I acquired the "Brothers Grim" the "Kubota Kitty's"

None so far, I am allergic to cats but they live outside and I hate £#€¥|^ mice!

Don't do poison! Unless its in a shed far enough away from your house.

We do tons of traps. Soon as it gets cold the mice invade and we kill as many as possible.

We tried poison at first, worked great until one mouse ate it and died in a spot we couldn't get to under the house. Oh my god - the smell for 3-4 weeks almost had us rip the house up to find him (and trust as we tried to find him for days as it was)

I have field mice occasionally bringing their jojoba beans into my barn to store. No damage yet but I have rat traps outside as well as the electronic Raticator on the inside, which is awesome. I put their beans in the Raticator as bait and I get a mouse about once a week or so.

There is a bait which stops at the first kill and does not kill anyone who eats the dead rodent. Unfortunately, that is only available through a licensed exterminator (???). I got some of that bait and it works very well. You have to use it in secured bait stations as there is no antidote for it should your dogs get into it.

We have a huge problem with desert pack-rats down here. They will pile up a bunch of cactus balls and other nasty stuff and make a home. At night they will go out and eat your car wiring or air conditioning control wiring. Happened to me twice and I had to armor the wiring on both new AC compressors. The installer told me Trane uses wire that is lubed during production with peanut oil. Thanks Trane!

Vehicle damage- a family moved into a ford ranger clutch housing. Clutch started slipping. Could have lit up the truck. Customer stored bulk food and paper products in garage. Bad idea unless its in a vault.

Yea I've found a dead mouse in the used oil pan out in the pole barn a few weeks ago. Have no idea why they'd want in there. Had about 6 qts in it and the mouse was at the bottom.

I still think that mice are an under appreciated source of protein. Stir fried? What kind of dipping sauce. Hmmm. Don

We've got a pair of Grey fox that are really good at keeping them in check. We don't have pets so they are a welcome site.
We've had them hanging around for about 3 years now, and the mice & chipmunk problems we had have pretty much gone away.

I use the "wheel of death"
See similar to

( the video is hilarious - no mice killed on the video)
So far this year 14 of the critters have been sent to their maker.
I also dust my tool drawers with cayenne pepper in the fall to dissuade them from moving in.
