New to the forum. I have a open station 7060 loader tractor which is 2 years old. Lately when the temperature drops below freezing the tractor will not start. I use a block heater.glow plugs etc. It doesn't turn over. Later in the day when the temperature rises it will start fine. I have cleaned battery terminals, starter connection, ground connection. I checked the fuses they appear fine. I am starting to suspect safety switches. I would like to check out the one on the shuttle shift the but the diesel tank is in the way. Before I move the tank does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

Is the fuel treated for cold weather and no signs of water or jelling? Sounds like to me it is the fuel.

Ahh I missed that, the only other thing that comes to mind for me is a weak battery, have you tried jumping it or keeping a battery tender on it?

I have had two tractors now where the seat switch is fussier when either it or I was cold, but in that case it will start but wouldn't move forward. Not sure what ones would not allow it to start. Maybe a combination of pto with the seat switch?

I think with my tractor the seat switch is tied in with the pto. If the pto is on and I stand up the alarm sounds. I can start my tractor standing beside it.

Is it an HST?
If it is wiggle the HST pedal back and forth while checking for cranking, it's the most common issue. ;)

This probably won't help since it's not turning over at all, unless the starter is tie in to knowing the glow plugs aren't on. On my M7040 you can manually activate the glow plugs by putting tractor out of gear, put the shuttle in the forward position, turn the key on, all the way to the start position, and hold it for 10 seconds. Pull shuttle back to neutral, see what happens.

Dern if I can remember how, but there's a way to go into the self-diagnostic function in the panel. There is on the 3301/3901, but I cannot remember for the life of me if the 7060 has this function...I want to say it does. I'll research it.

Turn the headlights on. Try to crank the engine when cold. What happens to the lights? If they dim way down or go out, you have a low voltage issue. If they don't dim, you have another issue.

Have you tried to jump the starter?
By jump, I mean from the large battery terminal to the small solenoid terminal.

I don't know why, but that model appears to have 2 starter relays mounted in front of the radiator I do believe, I would check those out too.

Those relays have been pulled and cleaned. One relay is for the starter and one for the glowplugs. The parts guy at the local dealership hinted that the starter relay has been known to freeze up. I have narrowed it down to the starter relay.. and will replace if necessary.

If you jumper direct to the starter, then you bypass that relay, that's almost got to tell you that's the problem.

Not necessarily, still could have a safety switch, wiring, or power feed issue. ;)
