Today for the second time in 2 months, on a 5 month old 7060, the right rear axle rung off the axle splines and probably the differential as well. Both times the dealer blamed me for using the dif lock the wrong way. The fact is, I wasn't using the dif lock at all. The tractor was not bound up or anything.

Has anyone experienced this kind of problem on a 7060 or similar tractor?

Does this mean axle pulled out from the differential, or wheel came off the axle?

A couple pictures would help me and others to understand the problem.

No pictures. Something popped in the right rear just like it did a couple months ago. It stopped pulling. Nothing visibly came loose. The wheel didn't break loose.

When this happened a couple months ago, the splines stripped out of the differential and off of the axle, and the axle bent. I am not sure what happened.

Is this the splines that are getting wiped?

The only part that I can think of that would cause damage both directions is a bad planetary.
If it's locking up (bad gear, bad bearing) it would cause issues in both input and output.

Well this has now happened twice. The dealer has tried to blame it on me for engaging the diff lock which o have not even used. I have had the tractor about 5 months. Bought it new. It has spent about 3 months in the shop.

The axle splines don't go into the differential. They go into the planetary carrier. Use (or misuse) of the dif lock shouldn't affect anything out there. I think your dealer is blowing smoke at you.

They replaced the carrier and the axle. I suspect that is going to be the problem again.

Sounds as if bolt(item 130/270) in the interior end of axle is failing or not staying tight. Use of diff lock shouldn't have any affect on that bolt failure!!

I am running water filled tires and 500 lb weights on each wheel. Do you think this would contribute to my problems?

It shouldn't be, that rear end you more than handle that weight!

I have liquid ballast & cast rear wheels on my M7040 & always add counterbalance of 750-1000#s on my tractors 3pt while handling several 1000's of rd bales.
