60” mower guard removal?

Pull the guard off my lawn mower once. Put a dime-sized hole in my 27' pool liner. Promptly put the guard back on, after fixing the leak in my pool.

Yes your tractor will explode violently on startup like in the old movies when a vehicle went over the cliff and explodes a few feet before impact. You are certainly doomed and the IRS will kick down your door and impound your dogs. Don't mess with the nanny state!
I can see why you would remove the belt guards, gets clogged with grass. But why would you remove the side discharge chute? What I did on my old mower and will do to my new zero turn is drill a small hole in the guard. Then I hold it up if needed with a bungy cord. Won't take the chance of mowing over a rock and hitting something or someone.
I removed the chute and belt guards on both of my zd mowers also. The bungee cord is a pretty common thing, and is what I did before installing an after market chute blocker.
The chute blockers are great for mulching leaves in the fall.

Better keep all the gaurds in case you need to reinstall. Many dealerships and lawnmower repair places will refuse to work on mowers without everything installed. They are releasing themselves of law suits. I use a bungee cord on my chute. Easy on, easy off...
I did the bungee cord thing for a while but It would ocassionally come off if you brushed up against something ..... also makes it a pain in the arse if you want to take a right... off the tractor..

Put the chute back on. I took out a side window of a Jeep 2 weeks ago. That cost me $325.00. Many years ago I took out a neighbor's patio door when a rock flew across both our yards. I was just high enough to get the distance. I use a bungy and hook it to FEL bracket. It is a long on that when hooked up will just slightly lift the chute to keep it from clumping. If I then wrap it over brake pedal, it lifts it almost 90 degrees.
Belt guards are a pain. Nothing but grass collectors.

Yep unless your putting a mulcher kit on ,please put the chute back kids pets and windows are all at risk. I also use the bungee cord and it brings the chute up level when mowing really heavy stuff.
The belt guards fell off I think about a week after I got the beast. New nuts washers lock washers and puff the were loose and off again. After about 4 times I took them off all the way, now I can clean the top of the deck inspect the belt clean the grease fittings,, easy pezzy,, and I like easy

On one of the forums I saw one fabricated from chain welded to angle iron. I plan on copying the design. I have to keep my chute up to fit through many places on our properties.
I have similar issues with space. That is why with the bungy, I can just pull and drive through. It has cost me with the chute up. now I only leave it up where I know there isn't anything/anyone around. (back 40).
I took the grass discharge guard off the day I bought my 60" belly mower for my B-series. Much cleaner discharge. I guess if you mow in rocks you might want it on, otherwise not. I removed it from my zero turn as well.

I put a 3/4" to 1" diameter X 10"-12" long piece of stick or dowel under the discharge guard up against the spring hinge. It raises the angle of the guard just enough to disperse the grass discharge a little wider, but still deflects potential projectiles.
I couldn't imagine mowing on a windy day without the guard on. I'd have to wear a respirator suit.
You don't want to be grounded do you? Lol. I would just hate to see somebody else have to replace windows for this reason......I speak from experience..............I do sound like my dad!But, DAD !!!!
