Hello,

I have a B2601 with the 54" wide FEL bucket. Looking to purchase a box blade and I keep wavering between a 54" and a 60".

The cost difference between the two is negligible. The 54" will stick out about 3" on either side, and the 60" will stick out 6" on either side.

I like the idea of the 54" as it matches my FEL bucket and keeps the overall width the same. However, I can see the extra 3" of overhang bring handy when grading the driveway, as I can keep the tractor a little bit further from the edge.

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks!

i had the 60" on mine when our driveway was gravel.

liked it being just a hair wider than my rear tires.

the tractor physically handled it fine.

I would get the 72 inch.. about 500 pounds, great for ballast and much easier to see the edge while your grading.. that and if you ever upgrade to a larger tractor it won't be to small..

IDK. Box Blades usually don’t angle, unless you contort your hitch to angle it. I’ve done that. Anyway, I have a six foot yard box I use with mine. Works fine. Five foot will work on yours. When I had a five foot box, I use to put cement blocks on it when using the diggers to really get them into the ground.

I'm on sandy/loamy soil and have built a mile of bush road with pit run and 7/8 crushed gravel. My B2620 will pull a full 60 inch no problem without traction or power loss.

Thanks for all of the replies. This will be a box blade/box scraper so no angled function.

Sounds like the 60" is the way to go. Also seems to be a more common size if I ever change tractors or sell the box blade.

If you were planning to do real hard work with the box blade, I would recommend the one that matched the width of your rear tires...I have a 60 inch which works pretty well behind my B2910, but will stop the tractor in its tracks if I get too aggressive. Problem is not enough weight to maximize traction. Even with loaded rear tires and loader on.

For driveway maintenance, the 60 inch sounds perfect.

I have both a RB1560 Rear Blade and BB1260 Box for my 2601 and I feel those are good sizes for this particular platform. Wide enough to cover the tracks......

Clearly I like 60"

And if you get into ground that is too much for a 60 inch and causing you to lose traction, adjust the top link, take less aggressive cuts and make an extra pass or two to do the job.
