Would someone be kind enough to give me the # of the hydraulic filters for my M5140. Changing fluids tonite and the two the local dealer sold me do not have the provision for the magnet and it looks like the new filter is smaller in diameter and will not seal on the mating surface of the trans housing.

Dealer sold me two # HHTAO-59900.......??

Would someone please comment on this

thanks in advance, Jerry

The ones they sold are wrong as you guessed! They should fit a L series hydrostat and been a very heavy base, thread distance about triple the norm! And they should have been around $60 each.

You did not provide enough detail of the transmission style that you had so I checked them all from 2wd to a hydraulic shuttle! You need HHTA0-37710 qty 2

Thanks, Pat, yeah, I was pretty sure they were the wrong filters.

Sorry for the lack of details....my tractor is a gear drive model M5140,4WD, I believe technically is a 5140DT. Hydraulic shuttle..not an SU series tractor

The filters they sold me have a machined aluminum mating surface and a pretty small "O" ring for the seal. As you know the old ones were more like a traditional oil filter with a heavy, square cut sealing ring and a magnet to catch the crud.

I was looking on e-bay and I was leaning toward the HHTAO-37710 as you mentioned, but I was just going on appearance alone as my old filters are painted Kubota Gray so no way to tell what I have now..
Guess it will be a quick run to the dealer tomorrow for my "Black Friday" shopping.

Have a great thanksgiving and thanks to you for the help.

Jerry

Just for future reference, here is a list of commonly used parts for a M5140DT from Messick's Tractor. It appears that you have the correct hydraulic filter tracked down.

Edit: You can also get the parts diagrams for your tractor by clicking on the components list on the left side of the page. Messick's will send it to your email.
