OK, I have not been fooling with my new LX 2610 this summer much. I have got in my head somewhere, maybe here - that the hydro filter needs changing at the 50 hour mark, which my tractor just passed. I got the filters a while ago and went out to change them this morning and looked at the owners manual to do it. I thought it seemed strange to change the filter without changing the hydro oil. IT says nothing in the owners manual about doing this filter change. CONFUSED.

Hydraulic oil doesn't shear and pick up carbon deposits like engine oil. If the filter is doing its job, break in particles should be trapped. Some people have commented that the hydraulics had less whine after changing the oil in an HST system, but Kubota doesn't seem to think it's necessary to change it too soon. Just based on what I've read on the many similar threads on here, I opted not to change the hyd oil at 50 hours and just follow the factory recommendations. Most importantly use a Kubota filter.
I did the hydro oil on my BX1860 at 50 hrs and the stuff that drained out looked just as good as the stuff I put in. With my BX2370 I didn't bother. First change is scheduled for 400 hrs.
Have a gallon of SUDT2 on hand. You'll lose a little during the filter change and it may not be quite full to start with. I probably had to put three quarts back into my L2501 after changing filters. I lost a little via leakage but I probably lost more when I discarded the old filters.
Your Owner’s Manual is your friend. It may tell you that your transmisison fluid also serves as your hydraulic fluid. Are you sure your manual doesn’t specify the fluid being changed at 50 hours..?? Mine does:
No, My new 2610 does not even have a chart like that what year and model do you have? And that sez change fluid. Somewhere, Somehow this idea of just changing the filters came up at 50 hours that makes no sense to me. Never heard of changing filters without changing the oil too? And what a slop mess that must make....?

Its on page 103/ 104 of your owners manual.
Its the same as the b2650 for maintaince and if you want to change fluid then go ahead its not going to hurt it. I did not change mine at 50 hrs.
To put more confusion into it the service manual for my b2650 says to change the fluid and filters at 50 hrs but the owners manual says just change the filters. I dont know what the lx2610 says but it may be the same.
