What is a reasonable cost for repairing 4WD on L3010?
Grinding noise in 4QD, 2WD works fine. Thought it was wheel bearing. Dealer replaces bearing n seal, cost me $500. Thought that was outrageous!

What does your bill tell you? How many parts did they replace and how much did they cost? What was the labor cost?

I assume if you could have fixed it yourself you would have; How much would it have cost you to learn to do it, buy the parts and tools and pay for your time? 500 seems pretty reasonable to me considering what it costs to keep a competent employee and not someone who half-a$$es stuff. the parts may not have cost much but I guarantee the overhead to keep the shop open with employees and tools does.

Did they fix it, or is it still messed up?

$500 for a front wheel bearing and seal repair parts and labor sounds normal.

I can easily justify $500 shop bill for a front wheel bearing and seals replacement.
But here's a suggestion.... depending on your mechanical expertise, available facilities and proper tools .... it might be advantageous to invest in a Kubota Workshop Manual (WSM) for your tractor. I bought one when I bought the tractor and between being blessed with a large (heated) workshop, an abundance of mechanics shop tools, the WSM and most of all support from this site I have not had to take her to a dealer for any service.
Aside from saving a ton of money.... I get to be out of the house doing something useful and it saves my 55 year marriage a bunch of grief. Both of us being retired and she's addicted to something called the Hallmark Channel... that's my Kryptonite. My shop is my second home now.....

$500 sounds reasonable when you are paying for skilled labour to do a job for you.

Why do you expect people to work for free when you are unwilling to?

$500 is reasonable, probably $100 in parts, $3 hrs labour ?, TAXES of course.... Would need to see the bill, so please post it. did they have to spend 1/2hr or more CLEANING the mud off the front end ??
Shops here are around $150/hr labour.. cars, pickups, 'small engines', a bit less.
The real HURT is the 13% the guvs get.. for doing NOTHING !

If you think $500 was 'criminal', I was quoted $86,000 to replace 13 windows in my house !

Actually Jay, you were quoted a price for 10 new windows in the guverments house. If you don’t beleive that just stop paying your taxes! 10 years ago we put 18 new Pella proline casements in our sons (guv’s) house for less than 8000. But we did the work ourselves. Gotta love how the guv tells you theres no inflation.

I tore apart both front axle sides on my old b7200 to replace bearings at different times. For the labor involved I think you got a bargain at $500. If you are not handy you have to expect these repair costs. I know a chap with a John Deere that paid $3500 to have one side repaired. He let it go until all the oil was gone and wrecked the gears as well. Price included haulage to and from the dealer. Usually, the first indication is oil seepage which is the time to address the issue.
